ZT 0562CF M390 Blade cracked at jimping

Quick update. Talked to a lady in warranty and blade will be fixed for free. She said they are waiting for blade to have serial number reapplied fri. I asked if i could just have sterile blade and she said no. I also asked if blade material would be the same m390 she said yes. We will see I will post back when blade arrives home.

Sounds like normal KAI service to me! Keep us posted!

Well got my blade back! But blade steel is different ELMAX. Spoke with the lady twice and asked if blade steel would be the same and she said yes. So what do you all think? All info was restamped on blade. Glad blade is fixed but not sure about ELMAX when original blade steel was m390.

Yeah, that's an annoying screwup for sure. I love elmax fwiw, but I don't have experience with m390, so couldn't say if that's an upgrade or if you'll want to pursue that with them.

Further inspection looks like they striped out torx head for pocket clip. They put new pocket clip and screws on presentation side but striped pocket clip screw.

No offense but I won't be buying a ZT anytime soon just for those 2 screwups. Looks like an amateur worked on it.

If I werr the guy in charge of the ZT CS department, I would send a brand new ZT0562cf in M390 to the OP with overnight mail immediately. These are just dumb mistakes.

On a side note, the only two times that I had to use KAI CS, I was absolutely 100% happy.

Exactly. Period.

That's disappointing. I'd certainly have a call in on Monday. I'd want a new screw and a new blade ASAP. You paid for m390 and good screws, that's what the warranty work should deliver.

They matched the serial number but instead of saying 0562CF and M390 it says 0562 and ELMAX! That's a major screw up. The stripped clip screw is another screw up but much smaller.

They need to fix it and pay for shipping both ways. Unfortunately, that's more time you lost.

More examples of how placing the stop pin through the blade is just a bad engineering design.

Flippers especially - the stop pin slams against the liners and can cause micro-cracks over time, until you see complete failure as outlined in this thread.

Plus I've seen examples where the press-fit stop pin can just simply fall out, even without the wear over time that is just inherent to the design.

Internal stop pins seem to becoming more of a thing, thankfully.

Update:
Spoke with sales manager at ZT thanks to Whitty @www.usamadeblade.com! They are going to send me a new ZT0562CF CTS-204P. They do not make the 0562 with m390 any more. Thank you Blade Forums! and ZT knives for stepping up and fixing this for me I will definetly be buying more ZT's. I will send pictures when new blade arrives.

Not surprising but still good to hear!

Great! Your persistence paid off. Glad it's finally working out for you. Hopefully, you'll get your brand new replacement soon.

Great Customer Service by Zero Tolerance and a great assist by Whitty!

Thank you whitty!

I'm glad this worked out for you jp22. I'm also glad I read through this thread today because I've been wanting a fiddleback production kephart, and hadn't decided who to order from. There is one less in stock at USAMadeBlade now. Nicely done Whitty.
