ZT 0770CF Pics

I just ordered mine last night. This is my first ZT and the reduced size was appealing to me. I knew that if it was a "pocket brick" I would seldom carry it. I'm looking forward to putting this thing through my EDC paces. Frankly, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Up until this knife, I have also avoided carbon fiber for a handle material as I could never see the enhanced value the CF added.

I have been trying to decide which ZT would be my better choice for some time now.

Just got mine. First impressions: Incredibly light. I know it is an illusion, but the blade just seems bigger the the handle. CF s not slippery, I was afraid it would be. Deploys a bit slow and stiff, I may have to loosen the pivot and/or lubricate.

In specs and side by side comparison it stacks up to the 0556, but in the hand they are worlds apart. It seems a lot closer to my G10 Leek.

I like it a lot, but pocket time will tell.

Sorry, forgot this was a pic thread.

Received mine today. Nice knife and one I will be willing to carry as an EDC. Fit and finish is excellent. I will say that this is about as small as I want to go with a ZT.

I have handled some of the other larger ZT models and felt that I was unlikely to carry one of them much because I have other larger heavier folders that get little use. However, I was very impressed with their overall fit and finish. But I expected that at this price point.

I finally broke down and ordered one from KW.I wonder why ZT chose to use a backspacer instead of standoffs? This model will be interesting since it is the first lightweight from ZT.How are you guys liking the ones that you have already?
Thanks,

Got this one from a friend out west, nice, very nice folder, here are a few images of mine, I made a braided leather lanyard, the pin on the end works well, if you keep the leather wide enough it's shoulders will prevent the lanyard from rotating into the area of the blade. The skull is held in place by a wedge of rubberized cork, so it's slid down over the wedge and held in place pretty securely.

an in pocket view;

I was cutting up some thick leather this morning, while trying to pull it through it was a bit tough but when I laid the leather down on a cutting board, it sliced cleanly through it easily and then push cut through the sections I sliced up, ;) berry berry nice !

I'm not a big fan of the assist, but don't want to mess with trying to remove it either, also, I'm guessing the torsion bar aids in retention when the knife is closed? So it's not relying fully on the detent?

Congrats on picking one up. The 0770CF is a fantastic knife.

I believe most of the changes from the 0770 to 0770CF were aesthetic to make it a bit more like the 0777 -- CF handles, oversize and decorative pivot, and solid backspacer. The only real functional difference between the 0770 and 0770CF that I've been able to determine is the addition of a few ridges of jimping on the flipper to make it easier to flip open.

I really like my 0770CF. It was a regular carry until I got my 0801CF. Too many knives, too little time (or too few pockets). ;)

A forum member here, Ankerson, did up a review testing edge retention cutting a few different materials. His tests also put the retention somewhere between S30V @ 60 HRC and M390 @ 61 HRC.

Got the answer
