ZT LE's to be Consumer Direct only

The option to find one at a substantially reduced price at at dealer is now gone..

Like Moxy said, there will be pros and cons. Can't make everyone happy right?

So you got an LE at a good price, while others had to pay a higher price that dealers were asking.

This will even out the playing field and be good for everyone.....

The way I see it, the people that generally get in on pre orders and get as many as they can for less than MSRP may be fewer than before. That is good for people that genuinely want the knife for a collection. It is bad for those that want to maximize profit off of someone else's work. Not to say that it still won't happen but the "Flippers" won't make as much and therefore may not see it as worth the effort. That is a good thing in my mind, the flippers should go away entirely IMHO.

If this is done pre-emptive way to try and stop dealers from charging more or not it is silly. If people will pay it, then it's worth it. Now secondary market prices will be that much more.

Is the 0620cf on this list too?

the 620CF is a production model, not a limited run.

It's not going to change the amount of knives ZT makes , the lists will fill in minutes, people will have all their family members buying one each...secondary will still be inflated and they will still be sold on the auction site.

I'm not trying to be negative just realistic.

Make no mistake this is all to familiar IMO.

^^^ This. I don't see how this changes anything, if it does at all. Dealers can have family members sign up, I can pay someone to refresh the zt le page every 5 minutes, secondary market will still be inflated, and so on. If there is a loophole, it shall be exploited - that's just human nature, and nobody has been able to beat human nature, and never will. If zt wants to avoid stupid markups, they shouldn't be producing anything LE. But well, let's wait and watch where this experiment goes...

So I found out where it is at. You have to pick a product that is listed as coming soon. For me it worked on the 0562CF you select that item and then right under the price there is a spot to enter your e-mail address for any notifications from Kai. I called Kai and they said they are working on getting it to work like this for every knife they make.

The 562CF is not a Limited Edition knife. If you click on any of the LEs (like the 392 and 454), There is not an email option, so how do we get notified when these LEs are available?

I MUST have the 392 it is the greatest looking knife I have ever seen, I love it !!

Anything that stings flippers, I'm all for. Find some other way to make money.

I'd gladly pay MSRP if it meant I wasn't going to have to pay triple MSRP to a dealer. That said, I'm all for Kershaw continuing a relationship for LEs with dealers who have proven to be 1,000% aboveboard, like KershawGuy to name one. The dealers who try to make a significant profit off a single item? Sorry, don't have any sympathy for you. It's rather like the parasite car dealers who get the latest sweet sports car in, adds a $10,000 "market adjustment fee" and expects to sell the car. Good luck!

The 392 is stunning but MSRP stunning.......ehhhhhhh

I was on a notification list for a 0392 and got this email today:

"This is true. Management made the decision and posted the announcement earlier this week. Going forward, any limited edition ZT or Kershaw knives will be consumer direct only. This goes for the 0454, 0392 and the 4040. Customers will be able to order the knife from our website when it becomes available. The rules are only one per household and they will be charged the full MSRP and shipping. They can sign up for the mailing list on the knives they are interested in and an alert will be sent out to them once they become available."

Looks like ZT cut out the dealers getting the LE's.

I'm glad they're doing this. At least they can control the redicilousness that the knife market has become. Of course, this won't stop the throngs of people buying it just so they can throw it up on ebay

I don't understand why people are complaining about this. This is a good way to somewhat regulate the crazy secondary market. Why complain that Kai is getting more money? They're the manufacturers. They put in all the efforts, so why not let them get what they deserve? What people are doing with the LEs is no different than flipper who will make more money on a knife than the knife maker who spent a lot of their time. I would rather pay the makers than the flippers.

I think it will turn out good for us, but Kai will be getting theirs too. I don't think for a second that they sold the knives to their distributors at msrp! This is to benefit Kai, the bonus is that it will most likely benefit all of us too. Should be easier to get and no huge price hikes. I think it will work out great

Count me in as one who wishes KAI/ZT only the best (whether I get one or not). There's always another great knive. I'll be thrilled to pay full retail, if I can snag a 0392. It'll be user. In the end, how they do business is their business. Amazing what a good night sleep will do.

At the rate they're putting out new knives I really don't care how they choose to sell their LE's. The way I see it they earned that right awhile ago!

Full MSRP is going to be steeper than what any of the dealers charge. Also, I believe BHQ will match KC's preorder price if you contact them about it.

This is not true. Certain dealers have been over MSRP on recent LEs.

This is demonstrative of limited business comprehension.

Epic post.:)

I said they are cashing in, I didn't say it in a bad way.

People shouldn't be so quick to make assumptions.

As much of a fan of ZT , i do think such a move is not fair to their dealers.

Regardless of what anyone else thinks, this is my opinion and I will stand by it.

Note this thread folks because if ZT does add this new policy, some of the same advocates will be pissen and moanin that they sold out to fast, the secondary is too high, threads watching every bid on the auction site.....

All, im saying is that IMO it's not fair to the dealers that are ultimately the bread and butter...."It takes a village" don't forget who helped you grow.

Think about it for a while.

If you can't figure it out I'll throw you a bone.

Well I can play the edit game too.

You STILL don't get it. Refer to aforementioned advice to keep thinking.

Here is some food for thought. If you buy a knife from any (ok, well most) manufacturer directly you will pay MSRP.
