ZT LE's to be Consumer Direct only

Ok, everybody is unhappy with Benchmade for their enforcement of MAP, everybody is happy with KAI for charging MSRP and also paying 2x MSRP for Hinderers.
Hmmm......Interesting.

If a dealer relies on any manufacturer's LE to be their bread and butter then that dealer should rethink it's business model. Production models are where KAI makes the money, certainly not the LE's.

Read my post.

I said the dealers are their bread and butter...meaning they deserve the (LEs) for selling the rest of the line. :)

Online dealers pricing is so competitive they are not making a killing on productions.

Ok then it comes back to how do you decide what dealers get them and what ones dont ? That would cause just as many hard feelings if not more. Im sure KAI has thought this out and they came to the decision to do what they are doing.

Distributers didn't get LEs.

Why ?

Im done here, its been decided and I for one can live with what they did. Good luck trying to figure out what else to do.

Bigmark408, There are obviously reasons why they felt compelled to try out this new way of selling LE's. I doubt it's simply to cash in (like how flippers who hog multiples of a low number LE). Saying that dealers deserve these LE's doesn't really do anything because no one is saying that they do not deserve it... But some things are amiss and I commend them for trying something to address it. No solution will be perfect and many will be butt hurt regardless... Tell me this, how would you have gotten your four or five 801CF's if this was already implemented? Have your friends and relatives order and shipped to their address? Don't worry, there will be ways for people to still work around the system they are putting in. ;) This time though, it will all be for MSRP. God knows why four ZT fans paid $600+ right off the bat when the 801CF's were just released while you were able to get them at below MSRP. Good work... Like I said, you can still figure out ways to acquire more than one so....

Simply because people in general don't feel that Benchmade are worth what they are asking for. From my experience, Zero Tolerance are leaps and bounds ahead of Benchmade in terms of quality. In terms of marketing, more people are willing to paying simply because it's Rick Hinderer design aka "Murica" whereas for Benchmade designs are mostly for aesthetics looks with mediocre functionality. Benchmade need to seriously improve before jacking up their prices like that.

In simply terms, Zero Tolerance has much higher value-per-dollar that you're paying for. At currently prices, a Griptilian cost almost as much as a ZT0566/ZT0770, hell, you can even get a Spyderco Sage1.

Comparing LE, have you seen the ridiculous prices of Benchmade "Gold-Class"...

Ok, i see you have some comprehension issues but to answer your question....i walked into a local brick and mortar store and purchased them with my own cash and sold 3 here on the forum for 400.00 each....i paid 372 and change each.

Did i sell them on a auction site ?

Could i have got more at the time ?

Did 2 of them go to APOs ?

:)

People pay what they do because they can, this is america remember.

When they sell out in two minutes for M.S.R.P. what do you think they will sell for on the secondary ?

How much on the auction sites ?

Sound familiar ?

Do you think because someone just got one he will not capitalize ?

How much did the 10 from blade sell for ?

Did some post forsale here while they were still at blade. ?

I think a better comparison would be the 810 Contego and personally i prefer the Contego.:)

The Sibert D/A is not a bad knife either. :)

If so many never drove Thomas Nuts he would be here with all the answers.
:)

And you seem satisfied.

I can't share what I really think. I'll just leave you in your troll cave.

Little people give themselves enlarged titles. :)

Bigmark408, many of the questions you asked in return have already been addressed and/or acknowledged by either myself or others so I'm not gonna get rhetorical back to you. You may be better at comprehending than I, but failed to really absorb what's already been said.

I just find it ironic that someone who benefited so much from a recent LE is the most vocal/skeptical about this policy change. "They're cashing in", "Dealers deserve better than this", "This won't change anything", or to that effect etc etc. lol.

I assume you're in the 408. The only knife store I know that carried ZT's there was Armor Geddon and they closed down last year. Who else in the Bay Area had them?

Your a " sharp " guy figure it out. :)

Was just curious to know because the stores around here all had them accounted for. You just walked in and lo and behold theres multiples in there for you. Theres no knife stores in the Bay lol..What like two? Found your story incredibly spectacular but at worse to be suspect. Thats why I asked.

I'm a knife guy and I like them sharp. Alright time for me to be the bigger guy on this one. Good luck on your future attempts at getting as many as you can "Big" Mark. Shouldn't be too hard for you. :)

You guys are in deep doo doo.

I was down at my local senior apartment complex earlier introducing myself to everyone - you know, playing checkers, chess, backgammon, etc. Pretty soon I'm gonna have a dozen or more little old ladies buying me LE's by the bunches. Oh I forgot tic-tac-toe as well.

:p

Somehow I think we'll all manage...guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes?

BTW, you sold/posted them at $600 EACH... I just checked the listing, you deleted the whole thing already but you didnt sell them at $400 each like you just said. What a guy.

Your ignorance is appalling, after I sold my knives at 400.00 each others were selling them for much more so I changed the price and closed my thread to not hurt the sales of others.

You have been here for 8 months and make some very strong accusations.

Look at my rep and ask around about me, ask other forum owners about my actions before you falsely accuse.

I turned down sales on some of those knives to sell them to our guardians.

And there are many knife stores in the bay area over a dozen within a 60 mile radius of me.

Stay on topic please.
