ZT Limited Edition 0999

The 0888 and 0454 are freaking beautiful. Then again, they aren't flamboyant with a lot of useless features that detract from the purpose of the knife, either.

The high-end ZT Limited Editions are showpieces yet working knives. They're designed to showcase certain design, engineering, manufacturing and materials. Sure they're over the top but they have a mission in mind.

Lets see some pics folks!!!

Mine arrived today but am not opening it till XMAS.

Then, I will have some bad ass spinning tops to open (Jochen's FatMax from GSTR in case anyone is interested in those) and the ZT 0999 and the 0606CF. Going to be a good day!

What are "bad ass spinning tops" ?? lol

This is what I consider a 'bad ass spinning top' :D

Google "Fatmax Spinning Top" and you will see a few spinning tops in this style by Jochen Pröllochs. A spinning top that has a machined look to it with a fat bearing for the contact point, and this style is just so cool to me. I have a few of his tops in different styles and they are great to play with when you have a desk job all day. Some of mine have spun for over 25 mins. pretty cool imo

I'm pretty sure the 0999 can cut. So with that said, not sure why anyone would believe that the 0999 "doesn't seem functional" or how embellishments would detract from its "purpose."

The knife is meant as a showpiece and has a specific target audience mind. If it's not for you, then so be it. You can say it's ugly, unattractive, whatever, it's all a matter of perspective and opinion...but to say it isn't functional as a knife is foolish.

Those are very cool! I like these....

^ You will always have the same group of people (troll's) whining here.

ZT, get's the last laugh- this L.E. run sold out in 1 minute; to ZT, and the lucky people whom landed one, that's all that really matter's!

^ +1 Nothing like those wooden tops with strings that I used to play with when I was a kid!

^ I hope that you're the CEO/President! :)

I can just picture this scenario: your boss walks into your office; is standing behind you watching for say 10 of these minutes, before interrupting your trance like state...and incredulously asking: "what the hell are you doing?!?!" :D

Saying certain products from a certain company are appealing and others aren't isn't trolling. Taking things that are completely irrelevant and making huge issues about them, trying to pick arguments, insulting people, and generally being obnoxious is trolling. You can usually tell who the trolls are by finding who frequently comments in whine and cheese.

^ I couldn't agree with you more, Dog!

^^ That W&C crowd you're referring to: they're absolutely some of the toughest word stroker's on the internet! I'm quite positive that they're writing something very flattering about the two of us, right now! :D

As for this ZT 0999: it's a knife that I hope someday, either mqqn, or RamZahr, decide to do a user pass around, so we can all appreciate it's artistic beauty, & usefulness. ;)

Stop talking about each other and where other people post.

Talk about the knife, only.

Well crap. The more pictures I see, the more I wish I at least tried to land one. Only have 13 ZT's right now, but never tried to get any of the LE's. But the last two that have come out.....is making me want to re-allocate where dollars are spent. [emoji51][emoji56]

I have several purchase follow ups.

1. Actual production number?

2. Highest serial number reported? Mine is #113

3. Any idea why they got rid of the text reveal in the little frame window? I really liked that. I realize some changes are made after the prototype due to manufacturing issues, (CF insert modification as an example), but that doesn't seem to fit here.

I have #0193 still sealed in its shipping carton. Can't bring myself to open it. I haven't seen a number higher than mine reported yet, so it's possible there are as few as 200.

Mine is 151. I heard that there were only 200 made, but who knows.

If this is just a run of 200, would this be the smallest production run yet for an LE?

0777, 0777-M390, 0777-M390BLK, 0777-M390BW, 0888, 0888MAX and 0888M390 all had very low quantities as well. I wouldn't be surprised if 0777 (composite blade) had the lowest quantity but that's conjecture on my part.

I personally think there's maybe 100ish original 0777s out there.

It doesn't sound like there are any 0999 variants coming so I would guess the 0999 total production is lower than the number of all 0777 or 0888 variants together .

I think there were like 500 0888s in total. The rough numbers were let out on a podcast IIRC.

Even is the 0777 variants were only 100 each, that's still 400 minimum.

So the 0999 being around 150-200 would be quite a bit lower.

0777 is still my favorite, though I think the 0427 is going to be a serious challenge.

Mine is #153. This is my second ZT and first LE. It is so different I love it. Hope they make more with different blades like the 0777. I would like to see a Damascus variant.

The one difference I noticed from the prototype is the 'made in usa' and 'kai' logos not visible on the blade through the cutouts on the handle.

Good summation.

Still, considering 0777 (original composite blade) and 0999 as single model numbers I'd guess 0777 had the lower output.

It's great to see ZT taking on such challenging manufacturing jobs that they eventually have to curtail the production run! Lessons learnt. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Carbonfiber blade insert? I don't know why it ruffles so many feathers when I say that ZT's are art knives. Release after release just support my observation.
