I understand the filler in the blade opening looking odd, it does take you by surprise and nothing you have seen on any other knife. I remember when I first saw that I was surprised at that feature I wondered what it was all about. It has grown on me as I have drooled over the pictures for a year and a half.

The protos did not have the metal panel inset into the CF piece - I am guessing that was necessary to affix the CF to the blade - proto picture follows -

I also thought the handle looks like some sort of futuristic space-craft, and now as I see it more I see more organic lines to the design, but I think this one will be something different to every eye.

After looking at this knife long and hard I think the CF in the blade actually helps balance the look of the overall knife. If you are looking at the blade alone I can understand where you are coming from.

I also like the change of the clip from the prototype, just looks better, more fluid. Can't wait for mine to get here!

So Seilu, I take it you were not impressed by this alien-inspired knife of genius?

Honestly, your comment made my day. I can just see some yahoo on you tube smashing their $750+ knife with a mallet and then swearing up a storm when the little carbon fiber insert flies out of that irregular hole in the blade.

I pictured that as well but truthfully I purchased the knife too as I like all sorts of knives. Pretty much every knife company has something I like and the 0999 is different enough that I want to check it out too. And what's great is there is no way I would lose money on it if I decided to sell

True, its kind of a win-win for you. I hope the guys that purchased these knives do like them. The design does have some interesting ideas in it.

Good lord, just looking at the 0600's you have on sale is such a large difference. Those look freaking beautiful. I mean lines that can make a liberal drool. This 0999 is something different. More like it belongs at the comicon. Joke knife. Not anything remotely meant for any kind of use. Trust me, I sold a 0600 and regret it and am regretting not having the money to buy one of your beauties right now. I have ZERO regrets about not buying a 0999 except that maybe I could have flipped it for crazy profits.

Exactly, it's something cool and special just to own although I'd always carry my CQC7 flipper, Kizer SLT, or Spydercos because I trust those more. The 0999 doesn't seem too functional either with all those crevices in which gunk can get trapped in.

If I ever decide to rid the 0999, I'll be sure to pick up a nice handgun instead ;)

Different viewpoints, perspectives and desires.

0600, 0600BLK, 0606CF and 0999 are some that I'd never carry mostly due to size and weight. 0999 is the only one of those four I'd keep because I'm a sucker for composite blades and innovation kind of like my three ZT LE with composite blades below (0777, 0888, 0454) which I still have but don't use and just admire.

The 0888 and 0454 are freaking beautiful. Then again, they aren't flamboyant with a lot of useless features that detract from the purpose of the knife, either.

Mine arrived today but am not opening it till XMAS.


Then, I will have some bad ass spinning tops to open (Jochen's FatMax from GSTR in case anyone is interested in those) and the ZT 0999 and the 0606CF. Going to be a good day!
