ZT Quality Control...

1. Personally, I find that completely unacceptable. Definitely return it and make sure it comes back in working order, then let us know.

2. I actually think it's completely appropriate to post a thread and video documenting the failure before contacting the company. Having a company that will fix problems with their product is great, but as a consumer I'd still like to know if this is a design flaw or a single lemon that snuck past QC and that's impossible to know if people don't share.

3. I'm no ZT fanboy, but bashing a companies QC based on experience with a sample size of one doesn't make much sense. QC and testing are there to minimize problems, the only way to make sure you don't make any defective products is to stop making products.

Fanboys is a term used by haterz.
Haterz is a term used by malcontents.
Malcontents is a term used by grumpus's.
Grumpus's is a term used by people with too much time on their hands.
People who have too much time on their hands go on the internet. :p

This is sig line worthy. I really need to buy your book, as what you write here consistently makes me grin.

It's a ti lock bar without insert correct? If that is the case there could certainly be a break in period and I am not a fanboy of any company FWIW.

Operator error.

Seriously?

I am not saying 100% it is operator error. I would just like to see how the lockup is after it's flipped with authority. The knife was designed as a flipper, it wasn't designed to just be lazily cracked open. I have a feeling that it the knife was designed to open up and lock up perfectly like that, that when someone went to actually flip it open, the lockbar would go way over and people would complain about late lockup.

I'm not talking about like a heavy wrist flick, I mean just a good solid push button flip.

Try opening the knife the whole way instead of just barley cracking it open. Pretty much every knife will do that because you aren't letting it lock up fully.

If you aren't happy, send it back to zt and have them look at it. I imagine if you used a better flipping technique though, the problem would resolve itself.
That was my first thought as well.

Send it back and let the warranty department do their job. They will take care of you.

What ZT subforum?

Exactly my point. They act like General is the new one.

Anyhoo, Ive had over a dozen ZT's and am super impressed by their QC and build quality on all of them. Maybe Ive been lucky as surely a very small number of lemons will fall through the cracks even if they should have framelock action down to a T.

As usual Stabman, your logic is uncannily accurate as well as humerus. ;):D

ZT will make it right for ya.

Was the knife purchased brand new, as in from a retailer?

Just curious as all my ZT's have been flawless (12 in total), both ones purchased NIB by myself as well as those from the secondhand market...

Edited to add - Stabman's right your GF probably broke it so she's on the hook for a new, pricier replacement.:D

Knife was purchased brand new. This is my 5th ZT...(2) 0350's, 0888, 0777 and a 0770

If any of you think you can convince her of that, I wish you luck. lol

Seems like you're the only one here attacking anyone and have done so in every one of your posts in this thread. Guess general is for trolls as well as ZT fanboys.

So considering your initial statement of 'ZT Quality Control
Seems like it's not existent any more.
' ; are we to assume that ALL of your ZTs have serious issues?

If not, how can you make such a statement?

I'd say there is something off with the knife, Not your technique.

The detent on mine is so stiff it opens like an AO. But after seeing this thread I picked mine up and opened it with two hands and tried to get it to fail and it didn't. I pushed on the spine, I tapped it (kinda hard) on a piece of wood. It didn't move. It did sound a little different vs. a regular opening, but it didn't fail.

ZT should take care of you.

The statement is an exaggeration based on the obvious manufacturing flaw that made it through. Noticed how I used the phrase "seems like"....I'm not implying that it's truly non-existent.

they'll make it right but didnt you know? As mandated by their fanboys, youre not aloud to make threads about cs and qc until after it is resolved. Doesnt matter that this is general and not the zt subforum. Oh.... Be ready. Mr potatohead in 3 2 1.

lmao.

That's fine but be mindful because people on here love to take exaggerated statements and repeat them over and over again as fact.
