I hear you, but what are you cutting that is causing the premature dulling?

Sometimes some steel types behave different.

I have also had some blades perform weird, so I'm not doubting your experience with the knife.

Didn't I write that in my initial post? I did write one(1) single cut in a piece of cardboard and it dulled the knife, as in it wouldn't shave hair anymore.
For comparison, I can do about 10 same cuts using a cheap Ka-Bar Dozier folder before it looses it's hair popping sharpness, and it's made of lowly aus8.

How do you sharpen the ZT? What stones are you using? Edge angle?

Sometimes I have seen hider carbide steels perform poorly due to the wrong kind of stones. The carbides don't get cut, but the rest of the alloy does, which leads to tear out.

Just trying to help, or see if there is something that might cause the knife to perform better for you.

It could be something you're doing wrong when you're sharpen it if it's a super steel you need diamonds, I found that out the hard way. And also depends on what medium you're trying to cut. I'm just trying to help I'm sure ZT will straighten this out. K a i USA is not going to screw you. They have a reputation to live up to. And a very good one at that. I'm not going to go back and reread three pages of posts however did you order the new blade? The blade is 40 and the shipping is 7 am I correct? I would have spent the $47 to be honest with you. But everybody's different.

An errant burr would behave just like that.

Why is it strange that the spine of the knife was dented when it was dropped to the floor? Or the floor is covered with carpet?

OK so honest advice here. Post some detailed images of the knife in question. There have been more than a few fake ZTs made.

I'm guessing this dealer to be Warriors and Wonders/Blades Canada but if not you can name them here.

If it is fake, ZT warranty dept should have found it out. But I agree some detailed pictures of the knife would be helpful.

There have been more than a few fake ZTs made...
Yeah, no, firstly it was purchased at W&W, second it is on its way back from Kai USA warranty department, and I'm pretty certain they, at least, would be able to spot a fake from a mille away.

As to posting a photo, it's dificult on this forum, and I cannot see what it would achieve. From what I remember from machining school, Rockwell test on a photo is not very reliable.

The photo is going to let a wide range of folks who've seen fake ZTs hone in on small details (markings, hardware, other details) and give you further feedback. And even where the test was performed on the blade will affect the rating.

Posting pictures is more than simple. Just upload to imgur either by a computer or a phone and copy the link over. I am not a paid member and I can shoot a new photo and upload it under a minute.

Where did you get the crabs man. They look delicious. Garlic crabs are my favorite. I knew there was something fishy about this thread. Those are not blue claw crabs what kind are they? Let's eat!

Again with the fake thing. Please kindly piss off will you.

Did you tell ZT to piss off as well? It's a no wonder they won't help you. You're rude you're crude and they are not going to help you. You've already pissed them off horribly. And they will do anything they can to not service you anymore. That's just basic business practices. If you want respect you've got to give it first. This whole nonsensical thread was useless. Try to be kind and try to be a nice guy, you'll see things go your way a lot more easier.

I have nothing more to add to this thread the op seems very odd and not very reasonable for this reason I am going to have to ignore him from here on out. He continuously calls people' names. And if I was Kai industries I wouldn't even have gave him the right time of day. Nothing further. He's told people to f off he's called people morons seems like he's not a very happy person. I'm done bye

Yep, all inquiry were met with the same robotic answer, "the blade was found to meet our standard".
Look, I'm not that of an idiot, I've been a foreman for 32 years I know how to talk to people. But at one point, enough is enough.
You must be a lousy boss. There's not much of a future in cleaning toilets for 32 years

So; far your whole tale of woe is full of holes. "got this 4 years ago but I can't sharpen it now, been sharpening knives for 50+ years so don't question me, a robot at ZT kept repeating the same sentence to me. Gotta say if you got me on the phone and ran your mouth like that you wouldn't get any exceptions to policy from me.

Maybe give them a bad Yelp! review. You're probably not going to find what you want on here.
