Zt0450

I swear I have signed up several times with the "Email me when this item is in stock" button on BladeHq's ZT0450 page but checking email and spam folder nothing :\

I find that feature to be useless. The stuff hits and sells out before those emails can be sent. The ONLY time I get one of those notifications is when something gets back in stock and doesnt sell out in a few days. But something like this that is going to be a hot item? never.

I may be wrong as I was wrong one time previously :) but I think the dealers just get a shipment from KAI/ZT with no notification. I have talked to several dealers who have mentioned that the just show up when they show up.

So with no notification from KAI, there is no way they can notify you. And if its a hot seller, they don't need to really. They will sell out no matter what.

BTW - I also had email notification set up and did not get any emails.....

I wasn't aware that the 0450 was even in the pipeline until a few days ago when I saw it available for preorder from Knifecenter.com and bit the bullet. If the first batch has already sold out, I guess I won't hold my breath on mine arriving any time soon.

If you want something when its first released dont rely on a pre-order. You have to be ready to jump on one fast there are tons of people on the pre-order list and a limited # of knives. Find a place that doesnt do pre-orders.

Yeah I dont preorder anymore. I dont even keep funds set aside. I have a credit card. Its the only way to roll with ZT new releases. The way I see it if the knife comes and I dont like it I will probably lose $10-20 if I dont like it and I will just resell it. If there is a problem with it return it. And if its simply amazing I will sell something in my collection before the bill comes. Preorders? never again.

What I don't get is why ZT is pumping out these new models when they can't even keep up with old backorders. I've had a 562cf on order for probably 8-10 months now. I just checked with my dealer, and was told they still have hundreds of orders ahead of mine for just that model. I'd love to try one of these new models, but...I hate getting my hopes up and end up waiting.

Wow a credit card for knives?

If you have it on order, then why not continue to be patient and wait for it? Or is it because you also want to get in on the new models but cant because an original model has your money hostage?

I have little to no patience and so I do not put things on order lol. You either got it or you don't.

I used to play this game with my local gun club/shooting range/outdoor store.

Walk in with a cool 2k in cash...y'all buy anything that IS NOT hi-points or police trades that have only been dragged down I-70 by a motorcycle cop twice? No?

Well, whew. That is good. Saved me from spending my money here.

M390 is hard to get and apparently they've had problems with the quality of the M390 they do get. That's why the 0392 switched from M390 to 204P before release. All these new models are S35VN which is easy to get and less expensive and better quality.

That said, there have been 0562CFs making it to the market in batches. If you have a back order with someone with "hundreds of orders" before yours, that's a problem with the seller vastly overselling what they could get, not ZTs fault. You've basically given them a $240 loan for the last 8-10 months, assuming you prepaid (hopefully you were smart enough not to).

I am very glad they chose S35VN. I have not been impressed with the M390 blades I have seen. I am sure once people work out the proper magic dance to perform that M390 will impress me, but S35VN does and continues to do so.

Also, your example is exactly why I don't pre-pay or back order things.

Come to think of it, I have never pre-ordered or back ordered anything unless it was something super legendary that I needed to complete some hole in my existence.

I snoozed, and I lost. Congrats to everyone who was able to get one of the first batch of these. I'll definitely be picking one up later (still have the 0454 ad 0452CF to tide me over).

And great video, austonh. Thanks for sharing!

GPK hasn't let me down yet. My 0452CF came when everyone else was getting theirs. Should be the same with the 0450 and 0808.

Besides that, they stopped taking preorders pretty quick, so the list from them is limited, at least.

My sense of urgency with regard to getting in early left me when I picked up my 0562. I had been wanting one since it was first announced, and for me, it exceeds the hype. It hasn't made me lose my appreciation for all other knives, but that buy gave me a huge shot of perspective. I want a 0450 really badly. But... I can wait. This time next year, I'll have one and will already be looking at the next thing.
