ZT0909 Not much talk!


Love it. Gotta do something about these scales, black G10 is so not my style. Everything else, perfect.
 
I'm hoping to get better acquainted with the 0909 at some point. I've still been using the recent Sinkevich models (0450CF and 0456) more so far.

The 0909 looks like it may be based off the Talos. It looks to be a pretty simple, utilitarian design, executed with some of the same design elements that made the 0200 such a beast. The sheer bulk of the handles on the 0200 was the main reason that one didn't see more carry time for me. The 0909 seems so much thinner, so it may actually carry pretty well for being a larger knife. The 0301 is pretty much at the upper limit of what I would carry, and the 0909 has a smaller footprint than that.

I'm a khukuri guy. Recurves don't scare me. However, I'm not a fan of them on a folder for the most part. It's one of the reasons why I picked the serrated version of the 350 for my work knife. The toothed recurve is great for rope, and I don't obsess about keeping it "perfect".

The clean, simple lines of the 909 as well as the ease of keeping the edge popping sharp is what drew me to the design. So, 909 for day to day cutting chores. 350 for rolling around in the mud. The 909 can handle whatever the 350 can...I just can't bring myself to thrash it....yet;)
 
I like the blade shape, but the handle shape does not appeal to me. Still prefer 0095bw.

Shape is fine, they machined too much of the scale away. imo

I like this better. G10 VECP

I think it's a return to what ZT originally set out as. Unfortunately, it looks like it might not fit my hand well. Still, I'd like to pick one up.

I love my 0909!! Currently I am alternating between the ZT0909 and the Kizer Sovereign for EDC - just because I like variety and rarely stick to one knife. Of the two, I do prefer the 0909.

It doesn't seem heavy at all to me, but I usually wear jeans or work pants as opposed to dress slacks.

I bought a ZT 0095 at the same time, to see which I would like the best, firsthand. The 0095 did not impress, for my purposes, and has never even made it into my pocket. I need to put it up on the Exchange. The only ZT that I am still wanting to try is the 0456... but the all metal scales make me reluctant. That may well have been the deal breaker for the 0095.

I think you will be surprised. This knife is super hand friendly. I would definitely pick one up and feel it out.
