ZT0909 Not much talk!

I like it a lot. I just don't have a need for anything that huge, though.

I'm actually looking at this knife again.
I wasn't interested when I saw it online, and my mind wasn't changed when I had an opportunity to handle it...but I was offered one in trade. I didn't jump on it; but I'm not disregarding the offer, either. (I'm still hoping somebody offers an 0095)

I think you will be surprised. This knife is super hand friendly. I would definitely pick one up and feel it out.

Agreed . I have bigger hands and it fits me .

My only gripe and it's personal is the jimping on the flipper can eat your fingers up if you play with your knives a lot .

Easy fix for me was to take the knife apart and smooth the flipper on a belt sander . I didn't grind the jimping off I more less polished it and it's 200x better.

The 0095 is a very nice knife but I just sold mine to get the 0909 and now I want new scales to go with it.

I handled a 909 at my dealer, and I have 2 major points. It is huge, and it is chunky. Terrible for lower end medium hands like mine, and it is nowhere close to light. That said, it is very comfortable in the hand, good texturing and ergonomics. Action is great, kinda surprising for such a large knife. It you have Hulk hands, it might be the knife for you. If you have tiny little gopher hands like me, stick with the 808 or 450.

I could agree with that. Although some might like the overly large knife. I'm 6'6" and 240 pounds so I may be biased to larger heavy knives.

Also. The other crazy thing. The liners are thicker than the G10!

Yeah this lock is probably stronger than 99% of the "over built, hard use, ultra tactical, high speed, low drag" frame locks out there, with their outrageously thin lock cutouts.

I have medium size hands and it works great for me! It' s one of my favorite knives ever.

The 0909 didn't strike me as particularly large or chunky - certainly not huge - but that's a matter of perspective. (Mine is from carrying an 0200, almost exclusively, for the past few years...anybody accustomed to smaller knives would likely feel differently.)
To be honest, I didn't give the 0909 a fair shake - I was focused on two other knives, and trying to decide which I was going to buy, when Kevin put it in front of me. I picked it up, opened it, looked it over, and turned my attention back to the others.

Big brutal tactical folders aren't up much my alley anymore. The last BIG folder I bought was a modern presentation of the Sardinian Shepard's knife, that is, the Patadda. Great for cutting cheese and cold cuts! :)

However, I'd have to say that eventually I'd probably get ZT 0909. It's all that the old 0200 was (size and weight) but better. Improved ergos, jimping, steel and KVT. A lot of value in a big tactical folder for $180.

I'm not really obsessed with jimping - I suppose I might notice if it wasn't there; but it rarely evokes my consideration. I'm almost surprise to see the improved ergos comment; but, then again, part of the reason I've stuck with the 0200 for so long is the way it fits my hand. (As I've posted before, I did sand the g10 smooth). I'll agree that the 0200 - or, rather, MY 0200 - had a weak detent and could be inconsistent when using the flipper...at least until I figured out its quirks. Now, I find that I like the softer detent of my 0200 and 0560 better than the firmer new ones. I sometimes find myself gently working the flipper or thumbstud to just break the detent - much in the same manner that some people use their traditional knives as "worry stones", or some people obsessively flip their knives open (over and over again).
These comparisons to the 0200 interest me because I really didn't see the similarity, other than them both being liner locks; but, again, I really didn't give the 0909 much consideration. I might have to wander over to a semi-local shop to see if they have one - this thread has made me think it might be worth a more serious look.

Alright so I had a total brain fart and completely forgot to mention on huge comparison knife that ZT makes! The 909 is very much like a less tactical, more utilitarian, less aggressive (both in shape and handle design) version of the 200. Close to the same size, both knives when I got them in hand made me saw "Damn that looked so much smaller online!", both have thick liners and a chunky (but in the good way) design.
