Awe never mind. ......

Thanks, I bought a harness stitching awl with waxed thread at a local western wear boot store. You can usually find them in country supply stores. I have some experience from when I was in high school my family owned/ operated a boot and shoe repair and saddle shop.

How to stitch leather
And:
I didn't know they made a 117 folder.
How old is that?
Any idea how it compares with the fixed blade?

That's nice. Thanks for sharing.
You always come up with something:thumbsup:

The Cliff's notes version...
The knife was made by Camillus for Coast Guard, Naval or similar duties. Buck put their own blade in it "post-war".
Some call it Buck's first folder, but it was more accurately Buck's first folding blade.
There's a good write up around here somewhere...

Thank you I do modify my knives when I see fit. But I can’t take credit for that one. It came from eBay. I actually bought a couple Brahmas when they were on clearance and was going to polish one and do a stag handle. This one came along and saved me the trouble.

Same guy did both of these. I like the double spacer on the 103 and wish the 117 matched it.

I just gotta point out that there are very few of the 5160 117's still available.
I wouldn't bet that they'll be back.....
And the phenolic ones are becoming scarce also.
Just saying.

I look forward to all the future WTB posts.:rolleyes::mad:
