ok i got a 2 line inverted 120 delivered
whicked looking ! what i call a knife now...
any ways
it has a crack in the handle
should i leave alone ?
have it repaired as org ?
have it repaired and modfided to stag or fancy wood...
no mater what i lose the but
oh yes it has the Bone Hard Fiber i belive as it dont look like micarta
so what year do that make it ?

confused folder mind set needs to know
or should i jest sell it ...
and get a fancy 110...?
opions needed!!

Spring for a a mammoth ivory replacement handle and new coin silver guard and pommel. Micarta spacers should be a nice red.

The blade is already 440C, so there's no need to replace it......just have them buff it up a bit and stamp it 440C.

A knife like that should have a custom sheath.....probably a true replica of the original flap type sheath.....but extra heavy and in tan and with a bit of fancy leather work to give it some real pop.

Then get my initials engraved on the pommel and send it to me.

i forgot to say that it has an orgional sheath also still in good shape...
stag maby ? cocobllo
stacked micarta maybe?
or an old kabar thought of stacked leather!
i am wandering if it is a pined or nut connection...

Hi Dave,
is it possible that I've seen the 120 in the Bay? I remember the crack in the handle. It seems to me as it is repairable. In your place I would try to fix it. My thought: Mill the crack out with a Dremel and a round head drill of a dentist, 1/4 inch deep. And then fill it up with epoxy glue in two steps. For the black colour you can take black color pigments from the paniter's shop. If you know somebody who uses a laser printer you can unse the toner to tint the glue. But be careful, it is noxious. When the glue hardened, file it an polish it and the crack is nearly invisible - try it, if it doesn't work, (what I don't think) you can change the handle later.
Good speed,
Haebbie
Did you get the Frontiersman?

yes it is possable that you seen it on the 'bay...:)
it is a very early knife and i am tempted to leave it alone!
as the crack is not on the tang stamp side....

you can see tht there was a LOT of hand finishing to this knife!!!
jest little touches that show it was almost all hand made!!!

looking at this i can see why Buck was such a great seller back then!

not yet but some times takes a while
slow cruse ship i think

Joe can you advise as to waht happens to value to a old 120 knife if it gets the handle replaced ? when you guys do it can you tell it was done ?
do you save the spacers or are they lost?
can stag be used as a replace ment
were any ever made then with stag? anything other then balck?
folder focused mind needs to know...

Better be careful Doctor Z... :D

Those fixed blades can be as addictive as the folders :D

Dave! Calm down.

The knife ain't worth all that much.

(If it was.....you wouldn't have talked the guy into selling it to you off e-Bay for $40, right?)

Do whatever strikes your fancy.

Put it on your belt and dance around the campfire......fearing no griz!

Have fun with it.....don't worry, be happy.

:)

I don't know what the problem is here......I pictured him wearing his usual and tasteful black halter top, red toreador pants and silver spike heels.

???

Ok, river-dancing in his usual and tasteful buckskin halter top, Kelly-green toreador loincloth and silver spike moccasins.

;)

Dave, don't you know you can't hide those big fixed blades from the wife as easy as you can the folders?? Best send them on over here for safe keeping.....

It's too late, Dave! to decaf doesn't neutralize the poison and now you are infected.
You cought the fixed blade fever. You feel it, don't deny. And there is no way to stop the epidemic.

You're welcome in the unfoldable neitherworld. Congratulations that you came down.
And don't be worried, there is no reason to stop collecting folders.

Take care,
Haebbie

Goose, the 2 rosewood knives the 119 and 105 are those from Bass Pro?
