Troy makes good stuff - their 7" rails are good the longer models are starting be a bit to heavy.

I like LaRue and Daniel Defense (especially the Omega which is ridiculously easy to install)

Yea Mon - Not only that, but the Omega is a free floater - Check it before you buy, Guy

So, free floating is going to make a big difference in accuracy? Even with iron sights and/or a red dot?

Here's a thread on cross-comparison between the Troy and the Omega: http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/DD-Omega-Troy-Drop-Rail-t59582.html Here are some comments from that thread I wonder about...

If you are mounting a laser or any aiming device you don't want the drop in rails you want the free free float that secures directly to the barrel nut.

I'm not planning on a laser, but I would like to know why you'd want the free float in that case.

The Troy is nice if you aren't putting rail panels on it.

Would the Troy be that bulky with the rail panels?

DD: Free float, lighter, thinner, continuous with the upper's flat top, more expensive.
Troy: non-FF, heavier, bulkier, not continuous with the upper's flat top, less expensive.

Continuity doesn't seem like it would be an issue since my AR is an optics ready with mounting positions for my battle sights on the upper and on the gas block. Those are already in line with one another.

How much difference in weight are we talking about here though?

I finally found some info on weight. Is it just a 1/2 ounce difference? The Omega lists at 8 ounces at the DD site, and the Troy lists at 8.5 on another site. (Couldn't find weight specs at the Troy website.)

Morning mangs, I'm taking the plane again to visit my family, dad has being kind of sick, and my sis is having her second child the 28th!!! Its a boy!! hahaha. So I'll see you guys now and then. Just stay safe and enjoy with family and friends.

Guyon, I don't know my ARs like everyone here (just starting to learn), but I went with the Troy MRF DI for my first build.

I do have a Magpul MOE handguard in FDE that I could send you if you just wanted something simple to attach a light to. All you would need to buy is an accessory rail for under $10 if you already have a rail mountable light.

We had a load of cooking to do for family and the Horton Kitchen Knives did awesome. My wife keeps saying, "these knives are sharp".:thumbup: Tons on potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, beef roast, etc... gave their lives to prove how well Hortons do in the kitchen.

I just Jeremy could put some bolder scales on them.:D I love the blaze.
