If we get sent some blades... I assure you some photo awesome-ness will commence. We will sport our KaBars whilst controlling helicopters!! On top of Humvees!! Maybe a photo in or infront of a tank, helicopter, or MRAP. You never know!! I promise I will send a flag with certificate to Moose and to Toooj and the gang at KaBar!!

Lol. I'm trying real hard.

Tell you what, Moose, i know you had a thing for SSG V... I will see if I can get her to model the blades for you!!

I would like to have a cutlass machete because...

Well, I don't really have a good compelling reason. I think you should give it to me though because:

1.) I am not Flexxx, which means you will not see it in my butt
2.) I haven't won anything in quite awhile
3.) I am, quite possibly, the second coolest person you know
4.) I have eaten nothing but tacos for the last 48 hours, and that trend is looking to continue through the next 24 at least

FOR BARLOW!!!

I would like to win either of he larger choppers, the cutlass or the kukri and here is why. My girlfirend's little brother is turning into quite the couch potato and it is my goal to get him to enjoy the outdoors more. He has shown and interest in my "survival" gear
and has asked me to teach him some stuff and go camping. For chritmas/ birthday I got him a backpack with alot of gear and a cool camo tent. He loves cammo because his older brother is in the Army.

Behind his house he has access to some land prime for learning how to make shelters and stuff the only thing, bordering their lawn is a buttload of poison sumac and he is REALLY allergic. On Wednesday evenings him and I hang out and I show him some stuff. He really wants me to help him make a shelter for him and his buddies to hang out in and clear a spot for his tent. For the last two weeks he has been to afraid to go into the woods behind his house for fear of getting poison sumac again.

If I was fortunate enough to win either the kukri or the cutlass (since my arsenal is lacking a chopper) I would clear a large path for him through the
sumac since I don't seem to be allergic. Then we could get back into the woods behind his house that he is comfortable with and build his skills and confidence there so I can bring him out to explore the spots I go to. Also his Mother and Sister are really afraid of him having a knife, any knife. Him and I have been working on knife safety in an effort to gain their approval for a bigger (more fun) knife. I think this would be a good "goal" knife. If he continues to treat knives with respect he could earn the priviledge to own a chopper like these.

In closeing, Thanks to Moose and Ka bar once again putting on another cool contest. It is much easier to recomend Ka bar because of all the cool things they do for their customers.

If I don't win? Those knives are still on my list. :)

Thanks again,

Jeremy

Warthog! i edc the warthog folder and love the design, blade and everything about it! would be awesome to have the bigger brother around when i camp or hike. The thing is a beast capable of anything a hatchet or machete can do......and i just want one

Very nice of you, Mr. Moose! I'm tempted to ask for the kukri machete because I gave mine to my buddy who had no large blades and that is one whopper of a chopper (see what I did there?).

On the other hand, my son is a machete freak (amongst other things) and he is having his 20th birthday tomorrow at USMC OCS. I think, if you have an extra grass machete or cutlass machete you don't know what to do with, it might wind up in his birthday loot - after we pick him up, of course. He has one of the heavy bowies and loves it - one of those machetes would really set him off.

It's weird to not be sure, but we think this is him (under the red dot) at "pickup"...

Thanks for the chance!

I would love to have the grass machete. Why? A few reasons. One, I am in need of a GOOD machete in that size catagory. Sometimes in the woods you just need somethIng bigger and I have been on the fence in choosing a good one. Have an upcoming trip that would provide excellent test pics. I’ve actually been looking at Imacasa, Tramontina, and other south American machetes in the 14" length.

SECOND: I gave my BK10 up to one of my best friends from high school simply because I got him started on Beckers, he will APPRICIATE it more and never sell it, and give it the respect it deserves. (He's also about to get his BH #). I don't collect too many more knives than I use, and rarely more than one per niche. I'm a user more than a collector, and it would take back seat to the 9 and 2 just because they have advantages in bushcrafting. I wanted a friend to get it, not some random person on ebay.

THIRD: If I am chosen for the grass machete, I will give up my own Cutlass Machete (which I duracoated) to someone who wanted one but didnt get chosen. Moose can choose the person and I'll ship it.

I would love the cutlass. It would let me get rid of the crappy coleman camp axe and have something big to chop with.

Congratulations to your son and yourself!

If I could have any of them, it'd be the Kabar Grass Machete. It's a big blade, so I'd use it for kitchen tasks (butchering meat) as well as shelter-making, wood processing for fire, and killing the errant zombie that stumbles by. My last encounter with their kind found me equipped with nothing but my wits. I had no choice but to run for my life, screaming bloody murder at the top of my lungs and cowering in fear. If I had the grass machete, said zombie could be dispatched in a single swing. Also, I own no Becker blades (damn this economy, why'd I have to find a love for knives now?) or anything by Kabar, I need to add one to the collection.

I'd review it, of course, during my next big outing in September. I know i could get a few opinions on the blade from the group joining me on that outing. We could test it batoning, chopping, and in its machete role on various forms of vegetation. If I liked it enough at home, maybe I'd bring that as my only blade on the trip. We're gonna bushwhack to an old plane crash site, too, a few miles off trail, so it will get a lot of testing and camera time.

At the moment, I really don't have much in the way of big knives. No machetes, heavy choppers, none at all!

I'm not above groveling, if that's what it takes...

I would Love to give the Kukri a try. I currently do not have anything bigger than a BK2 and the July challenge is begging for for some serious chopping power, not that the 2 is not getting the job done! In all honesty I have nothing that tops the sacrifices that those who are serving our Country and their families. Please count this as a vote to send one of the blades to one of them.

Thanks sir - he's been working for this chance (to go to OCS for the Marines) since he was a little kid. I think he's got his PT stuff up to speed, he's a good leader (will be better assuming he passes this) and he's very comfortable in the bush. He's been hunting with me since he was small enough for me to carry around in a backpack (literally). I couldn't be prouder of him. :)

Tell ya what Brother -- I have an unused Effingham era Ek Bowie (paracord wrap, not wood scales) with custom leather sheath sitting around gathering dust. If you think he would like that as a graduation gift, get me your shipping info and I'll send it out. If he wants to carry it in the field, it'll need a MOLLE compatible sheath, but those are easy enough to find.

Way to go man !

I would really love a good large Kukri, I would use it as my big chopper, also people always talk about how nice they are but ill never be able to afford one.

Let that be a lesson to all those wondering if a number is really that important. Yes it is. The generosity and selflessness of the fellow beckerheads is outstanding. Moose is waving a box of free knives, and the guys are given up theirs for others. You just don't find that anywhere else anymore. Earn that #!

Moose, I would like to remove myself from consideration and instead like to put forth a nomination for either Gingi's son in OCS or Dresnor and his girlfriend's little brother.
