1725SG2 Ti/SG2 JYD II

I don't need to ask any questions, other than when will it be readily available?

As soon as I heard that they were coming out, I decided I was going to get one. I'm hoping gpknives get one/some as they are my local guys.

Looks great!

Did some checking, the Dogs don't seem to have actually shipped, I think they are pretty much ready to go though. Looks like next week. Probably a good idea to shoot an email to your favorite dealer to make sure you are at the top of the list. :D

Just a few got out the door, and now it looks as if it gonna be a couple weeks on the balance (regular business jumped in the way, imagine that this time of year).

Looks like the final yield will be right at 700 pieces on this run.

Thomas, any idea what dealers will be receiving the 700 pieces. I have the regular JYD II and love it, the TI one would be a great piece to get for Christmas!

Thanks,

Johnny

I feel bad about getting all excited and posting pix. I was SURE after I snagged the one that the bulk would start hitting dealers. I wonder how many snuck out and if ANY dealers have had them yet?

I don't think that Thomas can really answer that sort of question without getting some of his customers mad (dealers and distributors). To be fair, he'd probably have to list all of his authorized dealers (you can find this at http://www.kershawknives.com).

Your best bet will be to shoot an email to or call your favorite dealers, and ask if they have them on order. By now I'm sure they'd know if they have them on order, and they'd
likely be happy to let you know when they arrive. If not, they're not a company that deserves your business.

Me too. Seems a bit cruel in retrospect.

ok, well then I'll offer 1 little negative (at least for me) on this JYDII variation. It relates to the frame lock, and the large clip that guards it. The only thing I've never cared for on this model is the large clip. I like it as a design element, but I hate it for the "I have a big knife" mesage it sends hanging out of my pocket. No biggie on the G10 regular model since I have just taken it off and kept the knife in my back pocket. The new ti version is even thinner and you hardly know it's there. However, the frame lock is exposed w/o the clip and (in my case at least) can inhibit the flip action slightly. One of my fingers rests on the lock while I flip. the detent ball is in contact with the blade, so I imagine that's why it occasionally doesn't flip so smoothly. No problems when the clip is back on. I really couldn't care less, though, since I love the knife. I didn't have the same problem with the smaller ZDP mini cyclone. The lock was a little stiffer and I guess my grip didn't push on it. I left the clip on that one anyway. And, of course, the G10 JYDII is guarded by the g10 scale since it's a liner lock. How much of a knife geek must I be to be able to critique a knife like this???? sad really ;)

Probably worth contacting STR to see if he can make you a less conspicuous, deep carry clip. He likes the JYD II, so I'm sure he'd love to see the Ti/SG2, version if he hasn't already.

By the way, here are a couple of pics for Vassili.

Whittled a couple of hairs for you with my Ti/SG2 JYD II (factory edge).

This one I shaved twice over the same area, though I didn't go as far with the second stroke.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. i did that with my Lahar not to long ago. though i kinda shlashed it lol. i will try "whittiling it" later.

ok so i tried to whitile with my lahar. i used cat hair (he sheds alot so i just went to where he was sleeping last) and i held the hair lightly to the edge (i was holding the knife with a couple of fingers while the rest of my fingers held one end of the hair. my other hand held the other end of the hair.). i lightly pulled and bingo! half the cat hair was curling while the other half was straight. needless to say i am impressed.

Any word on when these will be shipping to Crocblades? They claim availability will start on November 30th, but it looks like thats a generic date they used for several knives.

I'm not all that sure that it is that difficult to do, I managed to do the same with my SG2 Blur and Tyrade, all with factory edges. On the other hand maybe it is just easy to do with KERSHAW FACTORY EDGES. :D
