1725SG2 Ti/SG2 JYD II

John, I cant wait! Tim's JYD model is my all time favorite knife out there to date! I am more into the custom world but this particular production model has me intrigued to say the least! ;)

I may have to do some pimping on one or more of them! :D Lots of possibilities with a Ti frame! :)

Well, I was on a waiting list for these, but... Knifecenter it is! I've bought from them before, and I have no complaints. I've been dreaming about this knife!

The 3 in the picture are indeed mine. You think the production knives are hard to get a hold of, try the full blown custom models! ;) You have to call in allot of favors and be very lucky to boot! :)

Oh man, I just paid my $7500 property tax bill today and have spent most of my breath complaining to the wife about how tough Christmas is going to be after having had to drop that much cash!! But every time I read this thread I start to salivate, and now I've gone and ordered one! Oops, how did THAT just happen???? That was weird, one minute I was just browsing the Knifeworks site, and the next thing I know my credit card info was on the screen. Freaky, huh?

Good thing I had it mailed to my work address;)

Have a good weekend all!!

I'll take that as a compliment! :D I figured you would appreciate the pictures. There were also some other pictures here of my Onion Stud lock Bumps and Stud Lock Offsets. Both custom and production models. Someone snaged them from another forum. ;)

If you need a place to store them, I will happily volunteer my premises :)

BTW, I just got a email from knifeworks confirming shipment of my Ti/SG2 JYD II. The only downside is that I leave on a business trip Monday, so I won't be home when it arrives :(

Thats a bummer but at least it wont be long now and I hope you dont have to wait too long.

Thanks again for the lead with knifeworks. Since I didnt order on line and did it through the phone with Roger I didnt get any tracking but he told me they would go out today and I would most likely get them mid week. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to see my first one. ;)

Tell me about it!

Hey,.......it can't hurt to advertize.......

......but now i feel like........................... a PIMP! :D

Someone please bring me up to speed on what SG2 is please?

it's SUPER GOLD 2... another super duper steel on par with the likes of ZDP189. Because of it's hardness 65++, it has been often laminated inside a softer steel

Well, I have to admit that I placed my order _before_ I posted here :)

Of course you did, we would have too:D.
Just got back from work and have a shipping confirmation E-mail.
Very cool:D. Thanks for the heads up acourvil. I have been watching this post from day one for just this opportunity.

To be precise Kershaw never actually sad anything about SG2.

In different post we speculated that it may be same as Fallkniven laminated blades with SGPS inside (which is actually 62HRC), but we never have direct answer form Kershaw what actually SG2 is, what it's composition etc...

May be now after so many models were made with SG2 Kershaw can tell us what it is?

I should not that in Japanes traditions not to tell anything about steel - I spend several monthes and great effort to find out that on my Samurai bowie from G-Sakai is SRS15 and 63HRC (it take direct call from my friend in Japan to webmaster and then she find everything out).

I guess same happening with Kershaw (also Japanese company) or at least this is happening in Japanese side of Kershaw, which supply steel to US manufacturing plant.

I hope that Kershaw will clear that out, because steel hardness and composition provides great marketing value to the company, at least in this forums.

So, please tell as what is SG2?

I should note that Fallkniven actually provides full information about their 3G steel - hardness and composition...

Thanks, Vassili.

Recall there is a SG1 and a SG2. Falkniven just says "super gold ", "SGPS", and ""3G". I do know they run the little U2 harder than the bigger 2.75 inch folder. It might not even be the same "SG" steel they're using from one knife to another . Falkniven has me confused. Joe

Fallkniven provides composition of SGPS steel which they claim is core of 3G on each knife page on U2 and on any other 3G knife - everything is clear there (but their knifes are all tiny, small gentlemen folders and I like something bigger - like JYDII). We may and we did speculate that Kerhaw SG2 is same as SGPS, but again I did not hear any official word from Kershaw on this matter. I may speculate that it is absolutely different then SGPG and not PM steel at all or it may be next generation of SGPS or it may SRS-15 - Japanese did some laminated blades with it too etc... We do not even know is it stainless or not.

But I rather have Kershaw officially issue a statement - what is this?

Thanks, Vassili.
