1st Friday Production Updates

I ordered a GSO 12 yesterday.... All of a sudden time slowed down to a crawl and all I can think about is the 12... What do I do to pass time? I tapped into some of my bourbon stockpile but that just made me daydream even more. Lol. Tick....... Tock........ Tick....... Tock...... Oh the agony of having patience.

Sadly...buy more knives [emoji23]. I can't wait to get my 4.7 and it looks like my little 2.7 should be here in time for summer. That should be a good time to have a small knife to carry.

so you estimate the 2.7 by this summer? That timeline doesn't bode well for my hopes of getting a 12 by the end of the summer. ugh.... I'm ready to volunteer at the factory for Survive! How can I help? I will work for free! Well, for quicker production times I should say.

Pure speculation, my friend. I've been waiting for the 4.7, like everyone else, and I'm just basing my guess on that timeline as parts/pieces came in.

I think (hope) the 2.7 will be here before summer. Its a small knife and maybe because it is small it takes half the time to produce it :D

I will gently point out that the GSO-12 is still open for orders.
The 2.7 is the next in production once the 4.7 begins to ship, so that does look a lot more likely to happen.

I don't think the other sizes are as big orders as the 5.1. I don't think they will take as long to produce and ship. Remember the 5.1 had the most orders and that was what chose the order. So I think if the orders were say 2/3 of what the 5.1 were it would most certainly take less time. And remember the 2.7 got moved ahead of some of the others because all the required steel had already arrived. So the 2.7 may only be half or less of the 5.1 orders in turn less production time. :) just my .02¢…

Quote from "current production schedule updates"...

The GSO-5.1s had the most with the GSO-4.7 being close behind. However, the GSO-4.1 and GSO-7/7 ended up surpassing them a little bit since preordering was available for so long. GSO-2.7 and GSO-3.5 numbers are about half of the GSO-5.1 preorders.

So if the 2.7 production numbers are half what the 5.1 were then it's reasonable to assume it would take less time to arrive at your door based on amount ordered and the fact that their size may mean it is slightly less time consuming to produce. Maybe I will get my 12 in time for my summer camping excursions!!! or at least the last few of them.

I guess the 12 was pretty popular too, even though it's last in line. But that wasn't based on numbers I think? But I guess producing and sharpening it will be a bit more complicated than the other knives so it might be slower?

As I recall the production order was originally set by the popularity of each model at the close of the starter campaign.
They continued to take orders after closing the starter, and as the most initially popular models went into production the others had more time to accumulate orders.
This distorted the number of units of each model sold prior to production.

I wonder if they're taking that into account when considering the total number of knives they'll produce? I know they said at first that they used pre-orders as a guide, and then made 2x-3x as many for the regular ordering. But, with the fact of what you just said, I wouldn't think the same ratio would apply to these later models

I suppose that would depend on how many additional knife orders they take after they've bought the steel for that model.

We have definitely had to place a few orders for additional steel.

Thank you, Ellie. Hope all is well with Guy's family emergency.

Looks as if you've not yet decided whether the 4.5 or 6 will be next up after the 12.

They have been pretty close in numbers so we are waiting until it gets a bit closer to decide. It does look like the GSO-6 is pulling ahead though.
