1st Friday Production Updates

I am laughing so hard right now. The desperation of unrequited love for Survive knives knows no bounds. :)
If this business model makes too many more changes I'm going to suspect that this is really an elaborate psychological experiment. :)

I already have gotten a "poor man's" GSO 10 (Junglas) as consolation :p

Some of my back yard trees limbs are going to play war games with us this weekend ;)

Fancier using fancy words! I like "unrequited lurve". Now that's fancy ;)

Are the cutting machines down? The 3.5's have been "next up" for getting cut out for months.

They go through another company for cutting that handles that sort of thing for many other customers each waiting for their turn. They'll get there :)

We are being a bit less pushy on the heavy machining lately. We are already backed up in our workshop, with GSO-4.1s arriving any day now. There is no sense in rushing to have more inventory sitting on our floor.

Making snide comments on an open forum not only does not help this business, but will seriously dampen their entrepreneurial and innovative spirits to move forward. Come on folks and read in between the lines! Survive! has been giving subtle hints here and there that they don't want to be burdened with excess inventory. Maybe their moving sale made a few things abundantly clear to them about idle stock items and unnece$$ary tying up of capital in the case of a small business trying to Survive! ;)

I am not trying to start a flame out on here but there is no reason for cattiness!

also, having cut blanks sitting around leaves room for them to get damaged and require even more finishing time ala the 5.1

This thread was on page 6! Guess we missed this one for June and July.

Here is Casino'Casinostocks quote from the heads up thread with the August First Friday.

Just got this A August News Letter in the email. Note that there will be price increases which I though would've had to happen. It was just inevitable and matter of when:

I seem to be one of the few people who came to SURVIVE! from less expensive production knives compared to others who already had collections of customs or super steel blades. With that said I'd normally not like a price increase, but since they insist on free domestic shipping, no tax charge and free little (or big) extras with each order I can't argue with it! That's not even mentioning the improvements mentioned in the news letter, like finishing techniques and the new heat treats.

Also, I'm in full support of what they need to do to stay profitable for themselves to stay in business!!!

I wondered where this thread went. In fact I was looking for it just the other day, but obviously I did not dig as deep as Silver!
Thanks man!

The first friday update for August said that the 20cv heat treat was tweaked. does anyone have a link to the info on this? I'm considering a 4.1 after seeing the lineup picture on Instagram.

I don't have a link handy, but as I recall this is the sequence:
Survive tweaked the HT for both the 20CV and the 3V for the new 2015 models, and then Nathan the Machinist collaborated with them to implement his HT on 3V, which is the Delta 3V that starts on the 4.1 model and will be used on all the 3V knives from that point forward.
So, that 20CV tweak for the 2015 model is as I understand it what that update refers to. I've heard nothing about any subsequent changes to the 20CV HT process.

Hi Ellie, just curious. End of July there was a short opening for pre-orders for both the 4.1 and 2.7. Just curious to know if these will be manufactured together with your existing pre-orders or will we have to wait till the next available production cycle after the other models have been completed. I don't mind the wait, just want to know what will actually be happening.

I'm not sure about the 4.1 but I ordered a 2.7 under the impression it was a "pre-sale" and would only take two months to ship. That was in late July.

Here's the one for September: http://eepurl.com/cd5_R5

Not many changes, the short version: GSO-7/7s should be in the workshop soon!
Thank ya, ma'am. My favorite part is the 4.1 update

I could be wrong, but I thought presale was the last to order without having to scramble on a Monday. Those presales are at the end of the line, after the preorders... but you get exactly what you want with no hassle on a Monday. I don't think anything other than Monday sales will go out with a super short timeline.

Silver, you are the S!K expert on the methods and timeline but in the other thread on the 2.7's there were several of us who saw the "couple months" in the sale, and the words "Pre-sale" for those which is why I (and a few others) pulled the trigger and bought one. The "couple months" for shipping was S!K's verbage, not mine. I'm only going by what I saw when they were up for sale. I hope I'm right. I do not want to wait a year or two for mine.
