2007 Blade Show Cutting Competition- Why no Busse?

Can't the busse-a-natics keep the busse-o-ganda to the busse forum.

:confused::confused:

Please show me the rule which states that Busse fans can't (or shouldn't) post in the general discussion area. I think I may have missed it...

it was through emails, in that thread post #64 i asked what the test were, and post #73 closed it with a private message, still no details of the test that asked to be done to date.

Isn't this just like the JS tests? Jerry could build a knife to meet them, but because he doesn't forge, he isn't eligible. I am pretty sure that the Cutting Competition boys only allow forgers to play. I've looked all through their site at http://www.bladesports.org/ and can't seem to find the rules, although i remember reading them somewhere. My google-fu is weak tonight.

Busse is legit. Get over it. They do everything they are advertised to do and more, and the warranty has been stood by 100% to this day. If they aren't for you, don't buy them.

Just for kicks, could you post a pic of yourself with a 3lbs solid sledgehammer and a 36" prybar attached to your person. Perhaps on a trek into the back country? Now we're talking bro. :p:thumbup:

how about a pic of someone with a $7 mora and an sak in their pocket?

Since the initial post was about Busse and it's cutting abilities...

About 6 months ago I had a couple of friends over to do some knife testing and just to have fun chopping and destroying stuff. It was Morimotom, Pbusby, and myself. Morimotom brought over an MTech knock-off of a Busse Mean Street. So we decided to see what it could do. To be honest it did okay in a few areas. We hammered it into a tree stump. And with it's much thinner profile I bet it was a mean slicer. I think it was made of 420 but I forget. Anyway, we were all surprised at how well this rip-off was doing. Then when either Morimotom or Pbusby tried to pry with it it snapped like a crack head in an opera (don't ask). But it broke easily. Really easy. So let's just say that the knock-off was a better slicer. I still prefer Busse knives because they are so good all around.

Hey man. That's good stuff right there. Mora's have a great rep for what they do. And SAKs are way cool though I prefer a Leatherman multi-tool.

SO heck yea. Bring on the pics. :p

:rolleyes::rolleyes: Can't the anti-Busse trolls keep the Busse bashing to Whine & Cheese??? ...Gimme a break. We're all supposed to be knife fans here, and this IS the general knife discussion forum... Can we help it if we are on topic with the basic love of edged tools??? I'm sorry... Did we somehow take this thread OT? Or interrupt your conversation in another discussion on this thread? Last I checked, we responded to another's question, whether he liked our answers or not. He asked it here, so here we are. Don't worry, we won't force you to drink the Kool-aid, and we know the way back to our forum. Sheesh.

Maybe I'm misinformed but I think those competitions are for custom knives used by the maker? I don't believe there are any "super" steels but the trick is to tune the HT and geometry to the steel and the task at hand. The tests are designed to put the knives under a wide range of stress and any damage to the blade will disqualify the competitor.

Oh I see, no one here publicly called you a troublemaker.

I smell doodie.

My wife just sent me an email telling me to buy all available INFI

your previous post on this matter implied that you posited a question, were called names in the thread, and the thread was subsequently closed as a direct result of your questioning.

clearly not the case.

your question was not answered, agreed. but why should jerry give his tests or results to some stranger on the internet?

i suggest the following:

1. send an email to jerry@bussecombat.com.
2. in it, list your credentials, business name/address, and anything else that indicates you are a scientist with access to the proper equipment.
3. explain what tests you intend to perform, and what type of data can be extrapolated.
4. wait for a reply.

jerry may or may not agree to your tests. but i find it hard to believe you can be impartial given your pre-existing bias.

still at it? seems like the only ones whining are the ones who don't own a busse! how about you folks do like everyone else does, and buy a busse. if you don't like, it sell it and get close to your $$$ back. if you like, then more power to you. vote with your $$$! don't bash it if you never tried it. like ham solo said, we like other knives too. i enjoy busse, spyderco, ranger, kiku, kanetsune, hattori, swamprat, etc... lots of negative vibes in this thread, but also alot of people trying to be neutral. aaaaarrrrgghhh i need some jack/coke! time to drink!!!

Most cutting competitions are open to either forged or stock removal knives. Non-knifemaker cutters can use approved production knives.

no need for busse to do all this! i know that the amount of money i've laid down for their knives times the amount of knife nuts=successfull business model!!! why give in to a few whiners who have spent zero $$$'s on your product? just look at the ganzaaa stampede every few months! boss hog is one happy camper! need a refill!

Thanks for the info, Keith. I shouldn't have interjected, I thought I must be missing something. I do think though that user skill plays enough of a role that in a scenario like that switching the knives around on the competitors might result in all the same people winning with different knives.

I think there is definately some logic there. Technique is a plus!

Crazy huh? Make a post about Busse knives and look what happens. Sheesh.;)

WORSE than the "why are Sebenzas so good?" threads, damn!
