2010 Kershaw "Rake" by Tim Galyean

This is a pretty awesome looking knife. I'd like to see more of what Kershaw will have lined up for 2010. Is this from the new catalog, and where can I find?

Which way does the knife carry and is it a normal looking clip, or as normal as some Kershaw clips get.

I am glad you guys like the Rake! I tried to come up with a blade that would excel in many different cutting tasks, so I basically blended the JYD and Lahar blades together.

I don't think a clip design is set in stone. What do you guys think of the ZT style clip for tip up / tip down carry?

Now you are Talking :thumbup::thumbup:

Yeah, no one uses assisted opening. Much less flippers or thumbstuds.

I think having a choice of openings is a good thing.

Your right bro. What was I thinking, three ways to open the same f;)ing blade is genius.

Ps my smiley use is superior to yours  Have a :)

Since Mr. Galyean is on here how about a simple, useful clip ala the Blur.

The pocket clip isn't what makes me choose which knife to buy. Its the look and feel of the knife as well as materials and fit and finish. I like the ZT style clips just fine, but a Galyean style clip like those on the JYD or Lahar would be even better. IMHO.

I think the more discrete a pocket clip is, the better. I would be perfectly happy if everyone who sees the clip thinks I have a ballpoint pen in my pocket and not a knife.

I don't think like is a strong enough word.
As far as the clip goes... If you decide to do something different I am sure it will be just as amazing as the rest you have done. I for one can't wait.

I think I may have found my new, favorite Kershaw, if that's the way this project is headed!:D

I am quite fond of the clip on the Lahar, which is a pretty straight forward, but long, basic clip, but have become quite a fan of the even smaller, ZT-esque clip on the Groove models. If you go with the ZT style clip, I've probably found the next Kershaw I will own multiples of!!

I can appreciate needing or preferring a nondescript/descrete clip. Unless its a low-rider clip, the top of the knife is gonna show though. I can also appreciate the designer putting an artistic flare on his knife with a fancy pocket clip.

There's always STR if you like the knife and not the clip. Standardized hole spacing, especially within a knife brand would help, too.

Wow. Speedsafe, a flipper and a thumbstud....good grief.
Does it really need so much gimmickery?

Neither of these opening options interferes with the other in any way. I would rather have too many ways to open it than not have the one I like. Why have to make a choice between flipper or thumbstud? Personally I wish they could find a way to add a Spyderhole to it as well:D

I don't know why I'm commenting in this thread. The OP thinks it will be a liner lock, so I won't be buying one regardless of how great it looks otherwise. If it were a frame lock I would be all over it---love that blade shape!

Good Grief.

"Features" on knives,huh?

Granted a strong lock, ergonomic grips, sharp edge, good build quality, a good way to deploy the blade, lo profile clip...those are all features.

It gets to a point where more "features" becomes less with a flipper and a thumbstud then throw in that tell tale "snikt" that makes civilians think you have a switchblade?

No thanks, that is less about features and more about gimmicks in imo.

2Brothers, take it down a notch, going to eleven for humor is silly.

"Civilians"? "Switchblade"? You need to read a little more before you go commenting on things you show to have no knowledge about.

If they made the knife with just thumbstuds, that might dissuade the flipper buyers. And the opposite is true also.

I think Tim Galyean did a fine job with this design. If you don't like it, meh, no great loss.

the opening systems are exactly the same on the ken onion line, the blur, and a whole lot of other kershaw knives.
