The caplifter is growing on me, for the screwdriver aspect. Can't y'all open a beer with a rock, lighter, stick, etc? I might have to post an instructional video. :D

I can open a beer with just about anything:D, I'd rather use the tool spefically designed for it that happens to be in the same package as my beautifully finished, razor sharp knife. And I don't get having the pen blade... What's it do that the full size can't?

LOL, fair enough. I can't change my vote, but I would probably vote for the caplifter now for the screwdriver/unique aspect. I do like having a secondary blade, but I always have another knife on me anyway. :D

Campbell, just wondering, were any other cutlery companies consulted? Curious as to what was available.

I voted pen blade, but I'll take at least one regardless:thumbup::thumbup:

Looks like it will be the lifter version. But I'm still unsure about it...

Was there any reason for offering it with such long lifter rather than the short type on Scout knives?

I'd imagine a long lifter would be beneficial considering the spring strength of most GECs. Maybe?

I like the idea of the front end of the caplifter being a handy screwdriver. The design has EDC written all over it, and a screwdriver just boosts practicality.

I was one of the first to vote and I voted for the Pen blade.

Funny thing though: Now that the Caplifter is winning, I'm kinda glad.:p

i voted awl but the more i think about the practicality of a cap lifter the more i want it...this wont be a safe queen, ill use it a lot.

Yes, we talked to and got quotes from other companies. But after a lot of thought, we felt GEC was able to bring to the table the most unique and well executed pattern. Some companies were price prohibitive because our order size was smaller than they would normally take on. Other were equal in price or a little less, but they were not offering a new pattern....it would essentially be a current production knife with a couple tweaks like the BF stamp. For GEC to do this knife, they will be spending thousands of $$...new dies, new tooling, new jigging pattern, etc. They have agreed to do this at no cost to us, as they have indicated that they may want to make our knife a new pattern available to the public after our knives are finished. Personally, I think this is pretty cool...we as a community may have designed one of GEC's future patterns.

-Wanted to say thanks to the crew who made this happen!
You guys have done an excellent job putting all this together.
Thanks for all the hard work and the great knife you've been
able to put together for all of us!:D

That is very cool! It also makes me glad that the cap lifter is winning so far. I have no doubt that GEC will eventually make one with a pen or some other secondary blade. If the pen blade wins, they may not want to go to the expense of designing one with a cap lifter which may not sell as well.

I really applaud your choice! I think it's going to be a great knife!!
Much better than the others offered!

Taking a rough count, we could hit the 200 mark this year. That would be the best year yet.

169 votes and I have seen quite a few wanting 2 - 4 knives each...this year will definitely be a good one! might get some late chimers wanting to order too, we'll certainly be breaking in GEC's new tooling for this model. :D

Another caplifter vote here. I am looking forward to being part of this year's BF Knife project.
