That broad Spear blade looks JUST RIGHT.

The other variants in the No.85 pattern will be interesting too.

Looks great guys! I just got a NIB Umnumzaan yet I'm more excited about this knife for sure!!! This looks like a stellar build...:D:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks Campbell! Those are really going to be nice! They've got an
"Old School" vibe for sure! That main blade is a perfect size! Looks like
an old Remington EO I've got around here somewhere... Looking forward to this one.

Sorry everyone, I haven't been following this thread very closely and I am brand new the bladeforums knives. Could someone tell me when this knife will be available and possibly send me a message regarding where I can purchase one and a ballpark price of the knife?

The forum knife is a built to order annual event. You needed to order one and pay up front several months ago to get in on it.
Next year we should have another go at it, assuming we have a few members step up and organize it (these are not made for profit).

I'm sure a few will get offered up for sale here eventually, and GEC will be offering this model as a regular production in various configurations, so you still have a chance at the real deal or a reasonable facsimile.

Thank you for answering my question. I didn't realize that you had to pay in advance (woops!). Anyway, I would still be happy if I could get a standard production model later on.

This is on GEC's website for 10/17 under Information. It says "Annealing tangs of 85 spear blades."

There are a couple threads floating around with 2011 knife questions/updates, but I thought I would start a new thread where we can consolidate things and keep you updated. It seems to be coming along nicely, as many of you have seen from the pictures.

(This pictures shows the color of the bone, and not the jigging pattern)

Wish I was better at Photoshop and I'd add color to the latest pic of jigged bone. But imagine the color from the top picture on the bone in the bottom.

Thanks for keeping us updated Campbell!

Here's an amateur attempt...

The spear blade is outrageous! In a good way. And I can't wait to pop the cap on my first beer bottle. I might have to get some Red Tail to break it in.

+1 Hal!! Although my falling down water of choice would be Stella Artois.

I would like to see the jigging ending up just like the photoshop!! some will be lost in the hafting I'm sure:(
