2011 Forum Knife Discussion Thread

Guys, I think we wanted people to vote in the poll who were serious about purchasing a knife, IF, bold on IF that was the pattern you wanted. This EO is my 3rd choice, but I am in, because this is now a part of me. None of us will be upset if you decide not to buy a pattern you do not want to have. IF, and bold on IF, (hee hee enjoying that too much) people voted on this EO jack and then on a whim decided "naahhh, don't want to buy it now" we would be giving double frown emoticons to that type of behavior, because that would sway the vote unnecessarily. I hope y'all understand that. We knew we could not please everyone, but we are doing our best to provide warm and fuzzies as much as possible. A vote from mainly people interested in the forum knife was the idea, not committing anyone to purchase a knife they do not want because their vote locked in a buy was not the idea. It is good to find out a qualified estimate on buyers prior to talking to a cutlery company was the most important part of this voting and or committment to buy. We still love you.

I'm still going to purchase one, early next week, just waiting for a few knife deals to go through. One fell through which is why I haven't already ordered, but the others look like they're going to work out. Just waiting for one more paypal transfer.

The cap lifter will help to keep me from using the main blade as a screwdriver and pry bar (unless of course I need a bigger screwdriver or more leverage).:D

Screwdriver??! Pry-Bar?? TRADITIONALS' CARD IMPOUNDED PENDING ENQUIRIES:D

:D

One thing for sure... If you try to use the pointy tip of a knife as a screwdriver or a pry-bar, you'll probably end up with a wider screwdriver and a bent or shorter pry-bar!

My 2011 Forums knife will be treated very gingerly!!!

I have a HUGE problem!!! I have already ordered one knife and luckily, i conned my parents into reimbursing the 99.50 to me as a Christmas present since they spend 100 on each child. the knife is now my present. However, after reading other posts, i may have to buy another one!!!!!! i have always bought case knives and i'm excited about my first gec and my first forum knife. i am really thinking about carrying it too! ugh! i'll have to sleep on this one!! :)

I placed my order tonight, so my label vote is legal now. Looking forward to seeing this project as it moves forward. I know this knife will not cover every cutting need, but it wil be fun to pull out at a BBQ and lift the cap off of a longneck or fancy import. Not to mention handing it to a friend and watch them pinch out the big fat spear blade. I hope I did not leave out any pertinent personal information on the PayPal form...:D

Ya done great T! Phone # and forum name are important to me, so I do not have to chase down any information. No one has to fill in their address in the message area, because it auto downloads anyways, unless you are requesting the knife to be sent to a different address than your verified one.

We are at 104! We are relieved we hit 100, but really want 150, come on 150!!!!

That may not have been the intent, but that was how it came across to me. Don't vote unless you're going to buy one. The final knife would not have made my personal top ten for choices. I'm in anyway. I can always use it for a giveaway.

Jack,

I can see how that perception was communicated. The last thing we wanted to create was ill will. In our want to find out about how many knives we could tell a cutlery to manufacture and get a solid quote out of them is what our primary intention was, which led us to communicate as we did. We felt, if we could count x # of EO jacks with cap lifter voted in the poll, we could say we hoped it yielded 90% of knives sold of that pattern. Somehow, we lost the devil in the details and did not communicate as we should have. Hopefully the 2012 crew can learn from our errors.

See my last post in the Label Poll thread.

According to the list of people ordering knives posted by Chris yesterday at 09:50 PM, 74-people have ordered knives.

According to the number of people voting for the 2011 Forum knife tube label as of 0730 this morning, 106 people have voted.

Therefore, the poll results for the tube label is skewed.

So, who knows what label is really wanted by the majority of those ordering knives? The short answer to that question is -- nobody knows.

Payment sent for one knife, now to trick myself into forgetting about this so its a nice surprise when it shows up!

One question though, in the ordering thread it says that prices can change, but it doesn't state how those changes would be communicated to those of us who have already paid. Might want to add a note saying to always check the first post or expect an email, something along those lines.

Thanks for making this happen!

go in with the list of those who have paid and remove those who haven't?

Ed,

We will make sure the label votes are only of the people who pay. Once we close the sales thread, we can discount out the people who did not pay by the deadline, so we have an accurate label poll count. Any hanging chaffs will be discounted. LOL.

110 paid for! Wooohooo! Gee I wonder if Charlie's give away had anything to do with it? LOL

That's good Chris.

And it's great that we now have 110 paid for.

Ya know I saw the thread and all that and then zoned it out entirely, luckily not after the deadline. 1 Ordered.

My take on the polls/voting thing. The polls are for what you would like, that's about it. This ain't the end of the world, worst case scenario it ends up being something you don't want and when you know it isn't something you want, quit voting. That seems about it to me, no harm, no foul. The cap lifter was a no vote for me, don't particularly care for it, doesn't fit the style of knife at all to me. But on the other hand, I am a technician by trade and I use a screwdriver ALOT. I pretty much have a Phillips #2 on me at all times, but a slotted tip doesn't pop up as much and usually when it does I'm stuck up on top of a machine 50 feet from my toolbox, so it could come in handy. That's a whole lot of justification, but it's good enough for me and SWMBO, so there it is. I done payed fer it, I git ma knife. I have all of them since 2007 and I like an unbroken line. Your mileage may vary and we'll probably all still like ya just fine.

Jon
