Thanks Chris. I get them at Harbor Freight, but I need to find some finer grit ones somewhere. It is a decent little sander for the $$.

Thanks Charlie. I was lucky that the tubes just fit inside the small flat rate boxes. I can put up to 5 in one I think. I am bubble-wrapping each tube before putting them in the boxes.

I did up 15 "one knife" boxes last night and then started putting names on them.

I will try to do 10 knives per day on week-nights and 20 on the weekend, hoping to have most of these shipped by Turkey Day.

We are not worthy! We are not worthy!

(but we appreciate it greatly!)

Thanks for all the hard work. Watch out for those carboard edges, as they can give quite the 'paper cut' if they catch you just right.

Happy birthday to me! I'm quite excited to be receiving this so soon.

Hi folks -

Thanks so much for your hard work on this intensive part of the project, I bet next years will be even more intensive! I posted pics on my facebook and friends that are more into Spyderco collecting want in on next years! I'd love to help out however I can next year. :)

How much were these? They look fabulous.

Hi kronk - they were right at $100 delivered / insured. There will be an opportunity for a small number of people who did not get in on the original order to purchase one knife each - I will have more details after I get most of the shipping completed. I will post in this forum when the time is right, so, as I posted above - keep your eyes peeled in this forum.... ;^)

Thanks Robert - It is a lot of work, but it is worth it! I get to play with all those wonderful tubes!!

The hard part is keeping my hands off of the ones I ordered until all the member knives are shipped lol....

If you want to help out next year, just watch when the discussion turns to the 2012 knife and jump in!

Looking forward get my first GEC & BF knife, thanks for all the hard work guys.

cj65 & mqqn - PM sent on source for 1" high grit belts.

Thanks kreole -

I will be taking the packages to the post office in the little town I live in each morning, and I'll just pick up a handful each day when I ship the day's load.

I have to drive right past the post office in my small town when I am on my way to work each day.

Thanks for the info though - I might wind up doing that later on in the project.

Andy:

Looks like you have a good system, hopefully you don't have to hand write the shipping labels. I'd get a cramp. :D

You can order these stickers for free along with the small USPS Priority boxes

These stickers are pretty handy, for sealing the edges and seams... instead of tape. I order the boxes sometimes, and with holidays coming up, I'd recommend placing an order for the small priority boxes if you don't have your quota of boxes already. I've ran into some dry spells at several post offices, and you can always give them back to the USPS.

Many thanks. This is such a fine forum knife, and the result of so much hard work by you all.

You were off a few oh boys, so I fixed it for ya. ;)

I had my fingers crossed on the way back to the goat farm today, but no luck. Not sure if I deserve first mailing, but what the heck tomorrow should be a good day once I get home. Thanks again guys.

I know it is a lot of work and we are not the most patient folks, but I hope you each get a lot of satisfaction from getting these knives in the hands of friends across the world that trusted you. That is a very cool thing to have had a role in.

I got my few forum knives today! Pardon the mammoth ivory Alsdorf in the photo, which helped me open the box.

These forum knives are such a great experience, I'm thankful to have mine and it was worth the wait!

C'mon Mike! You're not going to leave us hanging with a picture of just the tube are you?
Killer Alsdorf by the way:thumbup:

Thanks T. you almost summed up how I'm feeling... just a few more "oh boys" and you'd have NAILED IT!:D

Seriously though... I've been on the lamb... laying low... hiding out... making myself scarce from traditional... because I KNEW I'd get all verklempt when I realized that the knife was soon to arrive. Now I'm like a kid before Christmas!! The last time I checked in on the progress of this knife was right after the ordering date closed... I knew we'd hoped to see delivery before Christmas, so I was trying to forget about it so I'd remain patient and somewhat sane... I didn't even realize that there was a 17 page WIP thread until this evening... and I just finished reading every word and drooled over EVERY picture. The knife is a thing of beauty. This will be my first Forum knife and my first from GEC and I will absolutely cherish it every time I use it (gently).

Those who've worked so hard to bring us this knife have my many, many sincerest thanks.

Now... someone tell me how I'm going to EVER get a decent nights sleep while I wait for the mail man EVERY DAY to bring me mine?!?!;):D
