The WT is growing on me. I like the one in the 1st post. I would like a 2nd blade but maybe if we go with a single blade we can have some nicer handle material. I'm in either way.
I voted CJ. I'd like to see a crest or bar shield with a small clip secondary blade (like what GEC has on the Geppetto whittler) with wrap around spring.
Congress Jack for me. As for shield, no shield or bar shield both work fine for me. If the knife is to be made by GEC, the "Northfield" shield would be fine too.
Should the WT win, I agree with Trand in post #2. Closed length 3,5".
CJ for me. Straight bolsters, threads nice but not a deal breaker. Like the shield shown because it follows the curvature of the knife. Sheepsfoot main with long pull and pen secondary. Swedges on both blades.
I voted for the Congress Jack again, but I'm in either way unless we decide to handle the wharncliff in dayglow something or other.
Congress I like pretty much as shown all around, wouldn't break my heart to see a slightly more wharncliff shape to the main blade but as it stands is ok too.
If we go with the wharncliff trapper I would prefer the 2 blade model with the skinny clip secondary.
Congess jack, sheepsfoot and pen as shown. With smooth scales, maybe ram's horn. 1095 or O1 from GEC, maybe D2 if it goes to Queen and they promise to actually sharpen. No shield would be clean looking, but any shield wouldn't be a deal killer. Open on whatever bolsters get decided on.
Wharncliffe Trapper, 3 7/8" - 4" in length, bare headed with two blades, the second being some form of Turkish, California or Muskrat clip point. I would prefer ebony scales and a bomb shield.
Congress Jack
Secondary blade: pen or spear
Shield: bar, schroll, something generally long and narrow
Size: 3 1/2" - 4"
While I am sure the wharncliffe trapper would come out a great knife in whatever configuration it could ultimately take it just doesn't hold the same appeal to me as the congress jack. I love a wharncliffe blade as much as anyone but there are several options out there to scratch that itch. Conversely, the congress jack is a pretty rare bird. This is a chance to revive that pattern and do something different than what's already out there these days.
CJ for me. Need a shield and grooved bolsters I think. Handles I would prefer some type of natural materials. Just as shown in the example would suit me fine.
