2012 Jimmy Chin Micro Show in Taipei, Taiwan

Fantastic work Kyle. The damascus in those hunters is just out of this world.

The 6th piece I'll have for the show is a 6 bar Turkish damascus hunter forged from 1095 and 15n20 steels. The guard is laddered w's gold washed in 18 carat gold. The scales are some high texture India Sambar stag with dovetailed mortised construction and pinned with 2 coin gold pins. Blade: 4.25" Overall: 8.250"

This will certainly be a show to be remembered. The knives as well as the steel are outstanding. Thanks for sharing.

All my best,
Gary

Fantastic knives.

The patterns can really be mesmerizing.

Fit & finish are just awsome.

I guess I should go back to the workshop and practice a lil' more !

Thanks for posting, guys, this is sheer motivation.

;)

You're bringing some fantastic stuff over here this year, guys. I can't wait to see them in hand. :)

Awesome damascus again Ron.

Kyle, those are not too shaby either. ;)

Here are some of the knives Jimmy will have at the show. There are a few more knives being finished just now like a couple of lage bowies and at least one fighter but they still need final assembly. There will also be a few ladder pattern knives that are being worked on as we speak/read. :)

These are the hunters, Turkish twist with African Black wood. That last picture is an Iron wood handle......enjoy and thanks to Richard for the pics, there will be more to come shortly. :)

As you know Turkish twist seems to have been the flavour of the last few years over here :D Those are indeed all integral guard knives as is everything from Jimmy for this show. More to come as and when......

Had the great fortune to visit Mr Ron Newton and he very graciously allowed me to see the knives posted here.
The pictures hardly even begin to show the beauty of the knives.Just mention about 2 of the knives for now.
The elephant hunter is a big brute of a knife. But the handle feels very comfortable to hold.Mr Newton has done a great job in sculpting the handle. The ladder pattern damascus is one of the tightest and most uniform that I have seen,WOW!..
The stag handled, 6 bar turkish twist damascus hunter is gorgous.Feels wonderful in the hand. That damascus is so very exquisite.Ron's damascus is among the best I have seen.Very good Sambar stag.
All the knives have excellent fit and finish.
It was very difficult to put them back on his table and even more difficult to leave them all with Mr Ron Newton.Wish I could have taken them all with me:D.

Just got all the fixed blades back from Paul Long. It's quite the mother load of leather. All 11 of my fixed blades were perfectly matched up with sheaths. Paul has a keen eye for matching exotic skins with knife handle materials. Wish there was time for Paul to make pouches for my folders but time has run out. Thank you Paul for getting to all these fixed blades!

My exhibition case for the western theme fighter is now complete with curly maple and engraved horses on the window.

Knife number seven is the second large elephant hunter but with a different color handle. 6" precision ladder pattern blade, feather damascus guard, and a greyish, blueish beaver tail inlayed P.Long sheath.
I think this is my favorite sheath.

A side by side picture to show the contrast of both the elephant hunters.

Knife number eight and nine are two small elephant hunters with 3-1/8" sliding ladder pattern blades. One in koa and one in curly maple. Both have engraved and laquered elephants both sides of handle. The koa has a feather pattern guard and the maple has a ladder pattern guard.

Thanks for looking. More pics to come as I finish up the last fixed blade and a couple of auto folders. I wish I could twist Jimmy's arm to post more of the 16 fixed blades he'll have at the show. Unfortunately Kyle has had to drop out of the show. I'll let him fill in the blanks himself.
