Professor Takulu, thank you for the gracious words. You're too kind. I'm looking forward to seeing you in a few days. I need this vacation and what a great bunch of people to hang out with.

Dear grandmaster, Jimmy has told me that he will guide you to our Palace Museum and our beloved Tarko National Park. I hope you will enjoy your vocation in Taiwan.
Looking forward to seeing you soon.

The Ovation folder is very very nice.
This 2 tone wire handled hunter is absolutely marvelous.Feels so good in the hand. Not a rough spot anywhere. The damascus is so clean and wonderful.Fit and finish are excellent. The pictures good as they are do not do it justice. It is so very good now.It is going to go to a whole new level when Mr Newton does all the other extras to it.This was my favourite of all the wonderful knives Mr Newton has for the show.

Raj, Jon and Grapevine,
I'm humbled. Thank you.

I was asked if any of my precison ladder pattern damascus blades have any "shimmer" because the photos didn't reveal any. Actually it's the most intense shimmer of any damascus I make.
The short video says it best. This is the walrus ivory/precision ladder damascus fighter I'm taking to Jimmy's show.

The ladder pattern damascus on the big elephant hunters have such a wonderful shimmer.Whoever gets to be the lucky owners of these are going to be very happy.Pictures really don't do the" shimmer", any justice.

This completes the pair of Ovation auto frame locks and completes my inventory for the micro show. These are almost twins but I went with slightly different blade shoulder grind angles on the top knife. For the sake of the customers from China and Taiwan at the show, the top one in the photo will be sold by drawing only. Well it's time to get the suitcases out and start packing. Not looking forward to the 17 hours of flying but hey, maybe it'll be some good bonding time with the wife.:p

Thanks everyone for looking and I'll post more pics of the happenings at the show, the other knives, and a writeup about the show when I get back on the Dec. 16th.

I can't believe I've missed this thread until now. What a treat!

The elephant hunters are incredibly appealing, as are the Newton folders. Actually, I'm loving pretty much everything. Well done gentlemen.

Safe travels Ron - thanks much for the terrific preview and for the show updates yet to come.

We're home from Taiwan with a picture heavy report of Jimmy's inaugural micro show. Several collectors have already inquired as to what it was like being there. Since pictures say it best I have several for everyone to view. I'll say first of all that the the show was a raging success and Jimmy was an incredible show host.

After spending 19 hours flying and several hours waiting around in airports we were finally greeted by Jimmy at the Taipei airport Thursdasy night 9 p.m. to take us to out hotel for a good nights rest. The next morning after breakfast we met up with the owners of Taipei's premier cutlery store. They drove us to the mountains nearby and treated us to hot springs water massage baths. What a great feeling to our sore muscles from being cramped in an airplane for 2 days. There were several different pools of hot springs water with varying temperatures and massage jet pressures. What a nice treat.

We then headed to a mountain village to eat some local home cooking for lunch and afterwards Jimmy wanted to hand pick various fruits and finger foods to have at his knife show for everyone to enjoy.

My wife was enjoying sampling new fruits we've not had access to in the U.S.

Outstanding pieces all. That elephant hunter really grabs my eye. The key hole integrals are also eye catching.

After Jimmy was stocked up on fruits for the show we toured the mountain area looking at waterfalls and other scenery.

After a day of sightseeing we were treated to upscale Japanese dining that night. If my memory is correct is was a twelve course meal that lasted a long time.

Next is the good stuff I know you're waiting for...Show Time!
After sleeping like a rock we got up for breakfast then headed to the show room. Jimmy had all his volunteer worker bees running everywhere putting the final touches on everything. There were high quality banners hanging throughout the hotel. I guess the president of Taiwan who was having a military meeting just footsteps away saw one of the banners because 3 body guards approached Jimmy to find out if the prez. was safe. Jimmy assured them everything was cool.

As we entered the show room there were two expensive vertical flower arrangements sent to Jimmy by the " Headquarters of Taiwan Collectable Arts". Jimmy IS a rock star throughout China and Taiwan. It was fun for my wife and I seeing him getting all the attention he deserves.

Before the show opened at 8 that morning I wanted to hurry and get a few pics of the local artists work they were exhibiting at Jimmy's show. He has invited local talent to his show so that their work and their name can be seen by his collector base. It was an admirable thing to see how he has helped these artists.
First is the Mongolian bow maker. It takes 18 months to complete one of these tedious bows. They start at $4,500 and go up to crazy expensive prices. Sorry Peter, no bargains to be found. The main ingrediant for the limbs on these bows is sinew. Lots of sinew.

Then there was this lady who hand carved these cool wooden eyeglasses. Fully functional. Jimmy is going to get her some nice stabilized curly maple for a custom pair he wants.

Okay I can see this is gonna take a while as many photos as I took. I'll pick back up on this tomorrow. I need some sleep.
