Thanks for tossing it :)
I have no idea of the "market feedback" of a sheepsfoot master blade. I know that I like this knife, and the fact it's uncommon makes it more appealing.

I too am surprised at the negative reactions to the sheepsfoot blade. I like it and don't see why that is less desirable than the wharncliffe that is all the rage at present.

I really like this. A sway back gents knife but just a little longer...in the handle and blade.

Some pages back I made a few suggestions, one was to consider a single blade; Don't think it's been done before, could keep costs down and so possibly give us special options for scale material. The Swayback Jack is revered here, rightly so, but a BIGGER single blade version after this Masterclass would be a very special and desirable Forum Knife XII

A true (splitback or dual spring) whittler would be awesome! There's not enough of 'em around. Just please not a serpentine whittler - me no likey. GEC's pocket-friendly congress-type whittler would be the ultimate in my book! Swayback gent in something other than Tru-Sharp would be sweet too.

in my humble opinion, the wharncliff is the coolest looking blade around, but it is not user friendly
if you engage the work piece with the point and apply much pressure the blade will snap.

the pointy leading edge is excellent for removing splinters and slicing through paper and plastic, but otherwise not much good for anything else.

There beautiful Case I found, I won't link the site since its store site and I think hotlinking store sites is no-no. However its Case made: Gents Mini trapper with single CV wharncliffe blade with burnt stag handles. Now that is gorgeous. Pattern Number: 5107W CV. Now something like that might be great.

not 110 size but something a bit more pocketable? might be kinda cool, Western used to have some cool looking lockbacks with a coke bottle-esque shape, always liked those.

Allow me to illustrate my personal view.

All this talk of Sheepfoot, how about a Lambfoot like you get on old English knives? They don't stick out too much-depending on handle, be a nice change too.

But then, I wouldn't mind an I*XL style Barehead stag/bone Pruner for that matter!

That second pattern, the wharncliffe pocket-friendly half congress - that's what I'm talking about!! That, or the same handle shape and blade combo, but with an additional pen blade as a whittler!

I agree. I much prefer a blade that is unobtrusive when in the closed position and it seems that is easier to do with a wharncliffe blade. Same reason I prefer the muskrat clip on the GEC #48 instead of the regular clip.

Pretty sure you're looking for a Courthouse Whittler. Same #62 pattern as the Easy Pocket Congress but with a small pen blade. The secondaries each have their own spring and the main uses both springs.

Giddyup! Who wouldn't want that beauty?

That courthouse whittler is a really fine looking piece. I could live with something like that too. I'm going to hold out for a Texas jack though. If it gets into the poll, that's what I'm going to vote for. Any configuration of Texas jack looks great to me.

Buck woud be awesome if they could do a custom 301 stockman for us. I would like to see jigged bone. (maybe they could use Sandvik or CPM steels)

I think it would be awesome to get Buck to do a two blade jack on the 301 frame with some "just for us" scales. I'd prefer to see the stockman's sheepsfoot on such a knife cut lower to sit lower. I'd be all over it. Has Buck done a knife for us? That would be close enough to a Texas jack to get me to vote for it. - Ed J

I guess I'll just tag this on to this post instead of making a new one. I would like to see us do a Canal street canoe with single master blade and bare head a la the Jeff Mutz canoe in my avatar. I don't think Jeff is able to handle an order the size ours might be and I really like the master blade shape on the Canal Street cannitler. I know they made a cannitler for us before, but this would be different. Just sayin.

I don't know that anyone has approached Buck to do a traditional folder for us????
I wonder if they do SFOs???
Something for the new team to find out!

I like that CW also! That's a nice useful knife - I have a two-blade on the same frame, and it is a good carry. The CW would be thicker, but it would have that wonderful "whittler" type construction.

I like buck but hate their grinds that dont go back to the spine. Eg:

leaves a flat unlike, say this schrade:

I would think that they could do full flat grinds. I'm like you, I don't like the new grinds they are using, but the knives work fine; the look of the grinds just grates on my nerves a bit. - Ed J
