Gents, I'd be partial to a wharncliffe trapper, say 3 7/8"?

I'm taken by the Congress Jack. Would love to own one of those. That would be my vote

If we end up with a Congress could we do one with all four blades a different type rather than two sets of two blades of all four the same?

I'm pretty sure they are referring to the Congress Jack, which only has two blades. A four blade knife would drive up cost considerably.

I love congress pattern so if the majority end up swinging that way I can get on board with that...love the 4 bladers but as said, that could get quite expensive!

I'm also up for this one! Maybe the new committee could see what the costs could be, before it's totally ruled out?

That Congress Jack is very alluring. Could easily get behind GEC and their Tortoise scales.

congress jack is very unique... mighty suitable for forum knife. Either with square bolster or rounded bolster like GEC's easy pocket congress.

I would be totally on board with the congress jack if it had an equal length drop point blade with the sheeps foot blade.

If we did uneven length blades I'd love to see a wrap around spring on the short blade. :)

Who do we have as the "Committee" as of now? I don't have nearly the amount of time in this forum as others, nor do I have nearly enough spare time to monitor the forums, but if you are in need of someone to help with things, count me in. I could do an email thing to one or two knife companies, and act as a go-between, if needed. I wouldn't be able to travel to a shop to take pics of WIP, but I could possibly post them, if the company sends 'em, once things are moving.

Who do I talk to?

If I remember well, some days ago Gus, in one of his last springs of wisdom before his abdication :D , suggested that a committee was made before going on with discussion.
This, of course, is absolutely impossible here (come on, try reading all this thread from the beginning...we're a herd of sheeps with labirinthitis here...that's why I feel so comfy on this subforum  ), but, maybe, we could make the extreme effort to do both things at the same time, and while we go on throwing in new ideas and patterns for the 2012 knife, try to make up a group of people who will actually do the dirty work.
As I said before, my geographical location is not the best possible for the task, but I would be glad to help if needed.

this thread serves as a place for everybody to throw out ideas, also to maybe spur some thoughts and discusssion, expose some of us to maybe a pattern or two we hadnt thought of, in addition to being a confusing din:D it acts to get excitement up. The committee will follow shortly, then further discussion and polls, research with manufacturers etc.
we'll be down to brass tacks before ya know it

PS this thread also allows me the opportunity to further my "WHALER in 2012" Agenda!:D
WHALER WHALER WHALER

"Congress Jack"?? Meaning the congress pattern with both blades opening from the same end? Never heard of this or seen it before, may be interesting. Let me know if I'm off.

^^ not sure where this picture came from, but it is not mine
