So, I guess we have all agreed on a harness whaler half congress peanut with at least one wharncliffe blade thrown in somewhere?

:D

For those interested in the Congress
S&M makes a 4" Congress Whittler with a Sheepsfoot main and two small blades on the other side
It is quite special

If we're talking congress, then GEC made one with main blades that look like a cross between a sheepsfoot and wharncliffe, same size spear, and pen blade. This is the only one that I could find on GEC's site. And it seems to be just over the $100 mark (by less than 1$ at some dealers).

Maybe we can get a full congress like above but on the easy pocket congress frame/with these wharncliffe blades?

Trand, I do like the shape of the main blade on the first GEC you posted. From what I've read, most here lean towards a Congress jack (two blades on the same end), and that would be a very nice main blade for sure

On those GEC's if I was choosing between the same frame with one or two springs, I'd choose one like that Easy Pocket Congress, for it's slimness.

How about going for a single-spring knife for a change? Thin in the pocket and a good test for the cutler's skill...

Gives us a lot of choice of blades and the Half Congress or Pen pattern would be ideal, why not a Norfolk? GEC would be able to mater than one!

I'd like to see a Congress Jack or Norfolk! Jigged bone or Stag! It's a
special knife so let's have some nice scales put on it! Like this years knife.
Those two patterns anybody could carry and use....imho.

Whatever the pattern choice ends up being, it would be nice to try a new material for the scales. By my count, for Forum knives stag has been done 3 times, bone twice, and ebony once. I would like to see micarta, tortoise shell or some acrylic (GEC excels at these), or even MOP.

Corey, I agree on the scales idea. Micarta would be my choice but some very desirable acrylics are about- very pattern sensitive though.

+1, although I have to admit I love that photo of that congress jack that's been circulating around - that sheepsfoot is has looks perfect. A more unique pattern as well.

+1. I've been lobbying for a micarta or acrylic handled forum knife for years - glad to see there's at least some like minds around here.

I think a congress jack with some pretty micarta scales sounds wonderful. I am not opposed to some of the other suggestions but I think I like this one the best so far. A baby sunfish sounds good as well but that might be a little pricey.

Following along lately and thought I would add that, to me, acrylic handles seem to be a step down in quality for a knife such as this. I feel micarta is acceptable but not by much, as this is a special knife I feel it needs nicer than acrylic, but I am not a fan of that material so am admittedly biased. I've stepped aside before when the pattern did not fit me, I'm just hoping it doesn't pass me by again. I'm still hoping for a nice coconolo or other wood for our handle choice. A lot of you like yellow handles- anybody up for an Osage slipjoint? ;)

Other than the sunfish or wharncliffe Whittler the congress jack is my third choice, with 2 different sized blades. I would volunteer to help, but with how I am dealing with the Canadian Christmas Exchange and my upcoming year I don't feel that I will be an asset to the team.

My opinion only.

No, it is a Texas harness whaler half congress peanut jack with at least one wharncliffe blade thrown in somewhere.

Since this will be my first BF knife, I hadn't considered the previous versions and handle materials actually.
My favourite handle material remains wood (ebony, rosewood, olive, walnut), but I would be very pleased to see the new knife in micarta or acrylic. In both cases, I would like to see some new colour or texture to make it unique. My personal opinion is that, if chosen properly, a dark synthetic handle would fit the Congress Jack perfectly.

I dont think they make these, but it would be cool to have a moose congress, a wharnie on one end and a spear blade on the other. Both of equal lengths.
