I'm in for just about anything with 2 or more blades, one straight and one curved (except the fat ones like sunfish/elephant toes). Congress, wharncliffe trapper, whittler/half whittler, senator, whatever.

That exactly sums up my preferences too!
Thanks for the help, Planterz :)

Some mentioned MOP, and I'm still liking the idea of a Cattle Knife. I doubt we could do this for a price that would be feasible, but something like this old Excelsior would sure be sweet. Maybe we could get some really nice old MOTS instead. A few have expressed a liking for acrylic.

2012 forum knife? How about something like this:

Awesome knife. Not far from the Wharncliffe Canoe I suggested early on this thread. The rounded bolsters make it very pocket friendly. I would prefer two springs, and maybe I'd like the secondary (wharncliffe) blade a bit longer than that.

Gents, I'd be partial to a wharncliffe trapper, say 3 7/8"?

Surely so. Altho I would rather have it a bit south of 3 7/8", and with a clip main blade instead of the drop.

I'm afraid i'm just not a fan of the toenail sunfish whaler style.
ALthoough... i did a see Schrade 51OT lockback spearpoint on the bay that i quite like the look of .
didn't care for the pricetag. Its got a big chunky blade but not so fat it looks like a duplo toy knife.
i'm fantasising about one with blue bone.

That 51OT is a big handful of knife. It's a good one though. Didn't sell too well I guess accounting for the low numbers in the wild. I like it. Used Schrade + steel on the blade. I'm not one to be into toes, sunfish, whaler, rope knives. Not sure I would get in on one, if that's where the process winds up.

If we went with a synthetic I'd love something like this (the material, not the pattern):

The ivory micarta that rick uses.

Broken record much?

GEC tooled up for an entire new pattern for us, got more knives completed and out to us faster than any other company to date, and you act like they deliberately made a non-functional tool as a personal insult to you. Get over it. I'll take the GEC caplifter over Queen "sharpening" any time.

Yeah, and they're making/selling knives based on that pattern (as was the agreement) hand over fist and making a good profit by doing so.

GEC makes a great knife. As I've said, I have many of them. I just think it's time to give another maker a chance -- Buck would be a good one. Canal Street would be another. Oh yeah, and then there's Case. Maybe these other makers wouldn't be interested in doing a limited run of Forum Knives for us but it wouldn't hurt to consider them and ask them. Heck, I'd even take one made by Bear & Sons.

Anyway, enough discussion about GEC and the caplifter as far as I'm concerned. Let's get on with the 2012 Forum knife discussion and ideas.

I guess some of you may laugh but how about considering a good ole, down to earth, Sod Buster. The one picuted is by Case with CV blade steel but one by Queen with D2 wouldn't be shabby at all.

Another GEC would be great. Anything with at least two blades that is not of the Toe nail type would be great. Would like natural handle as well. Medium Warnencliff trapper would be great as would a congress jack (or dare I say it, a Peanut :D). Steven

I'll probably be condemned as a heretic for this, but I've wanted to see a sod buster in carbon fiber. That would be an interesting forum knife.

I agree with Modoc ED that a Sodbuster would be a good choice. 3 1/2 to 3 5/8 inch, maybe (maybe even 3" with slightly thinned scales) with that white micarta and a shield like the one posted earlier. Only thing that could screw that up is a wharncliff blade. And no doubt someone will think that's a good idea. Even though I've been carrying a baby sunfish at work lately I'm still kind of partial to single blade knives. My off work EDCs have for a while now been a Queen D2 sodbuster or a medium (4") toothpick.

Just so, I prefer good old bone because: I heard U.S. Gov wants documentation if exporting exotic woods, horns, mop or stag outside U.S. where the origins of material is stated... Its something new in the line... but if its true, it might need to be considered really. If someone can use google-fu and check this prior we make any decision of handle materials.

I know that, due to these rules, most retailers refuse to ship knives made with stag, buffalo horn and abalone, so I hope these materials won't be chosen for this knife, otherwise us overseas forumites might have troubles.
Again, I second Corey's thoughts about a synthetic handle (a quality one, of course).
