2013 BF Traditional draft proposal

You're right; getting the proportions correct will be very important. To go to the example that a lot of people have talked about, this custom by Ryuchi Kawamura is 3 5/8" long and has a 2 15/16" main blade:

This is kind of the image I have in my head for the blades and springs.

This would be the ideal knife IMHO. Even a 3-3/4 will probably have a blade no longer than 3". Would be very helpful for us on the other side of the big pond :)
In any case I don't have a lot of use for a sheepsfoot blade longer than that in a congress frame. Just my 2ct. of course.

looks like it will be an elegant knife, I like the way the Kawamura custom's sheepsfoot flares out towards the tip, though this makes it stick out more in closed position.

Appreciate the hard work B. One note though, I thought we we leaning more towards the antiqued ivory scales, possibly even to butterscotch coloration? My only concern is the white micarta, if chosen, will definitely show dirt and use much easier.

Thanks again.

Good point.

Looking through everyone's comments, it seems that something in between white and butterscotch was a common request; most people referred to it just as "ivory". I'm hoping we'll be able to provide pics of what can be provided when we get to that stage.

I read his comment as.... we don't want white, but off white like ivory or butterscotch.

Great work on this gents.

I've no commented or been part of any of the choices, I just feel its easier to decide once done.

From what you have posted though Blaine, 'on paper', it sounds to be a great looking knife.

Best of luck with the next stages.

Yes, it's going to be a sweet knife me thinks. Thanks to Blaine and the rest of the crew are putting this together.

This is so exciting! Sounds like it's going to be a real winner. May even kick the 2009 forum knife out of my pocket for a while. ;)

Sorry, with that main blade I will sit this year out. The sheep foot just seems ugly to me, oh well. Steven

Wow, you guys are doing a bang up job on this!

I'm in for at least one!

Sounds like a great knife. Thanks to all involved for your hard work. I'm looking forward to this years knife (Which I always do!).
