And that cover choice would most assuredly ensure I would not buy one- to me that looks like a cheap juvenile knife handle choice. But that is why it is a majority rule choice, and if something detracts from us buying it, another will most likely feel that the choice fills a niche in their collection. The cap lifter from 2 years ago was a deal breaker for me, I'm happy I didn't get it, and others are glad that they did. Many of us can not or choose not to afford anything that is chosen, but there is nothing wrong with waiting for what suits you best! I'm glad that it seems like my top choice is going through, even if stainless isn't chosen this time around.

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the wild Acrylics. I do wish I had been here for the 2011. That cap lifter is the main reason I want one.

Who is selling a Congress Jack?

I have only seen Half Congresses

I found a large picture of a sway back jack pattern from Schatt and Morgan, and confused it with a congress jack. :foot:

I don't particularly care for the acrylic handles, the one posted isn't too horrible, in my opinion. Not what I would want, but not the worst.

A couple examples of linen micarta. Black, panama white, and green. The CSC's micarta is flatter than the other two so you don't really see the layered pattern which I like.

Glad you brought that picture over, saw it but did not want to steal it for this thread without permission. :o

I like that micarta, but would like to see thicker rounded scales on ours if possible to highlight the contrast in the different layers. (Saw you mentioned much the same for this knife in your thread)

For example, not ivory, but gives one the idea of the displayed layering. (Borrowed from the old micarta thread)

Not mine guys, just a borrowed pic from an older thread for illustration of my point.

Are there any plans for doing a run off poll between the two top categories in this poll? Not that I am in anyway unhappy, I just wanted to ask the question.

A big thank you to the committee for making this all possible and doing the grunt work of running polls, organizing things, contacting makers, and in general for stepping up to the plate. Thank you!

The only way I could see the necessity of doing a runoff is if any options were very close to each other. We still have a few more days to see where this round ends up.

I don't see the need for a run off - it's a poll. Majority wins I'd say if only by one (1) vote. I voted stag but if synthetic wins then so be it. The more the micarta guys keep talking the more appealing it becomes.

These guys have enough to do without conducting run off polls too. My .02¢

I agree with you Ed. A win is a win if even by one vote.

Ditto, on winning this poll. Next will be a poll to choose which "synthetic". So far micarta seems to be mentioned most often (ivory in paper, linen, or canvas with enough curvature to show the layering).

Pleasantly surprised to see that synthetics are winning. Would love an interesting acrylic, but I think some sort of micarta (maybe ivory paper) could be very interesting and possible open up the possibility of a shadow pattern with a durable material that doesn't need bolsters for protection.

I'm rooting for ivory paper myself, though I could be swayed by Bladeforums Blue canvas micarta.

Micarta is interesting
It can be made thinner than either bone or wood, which reduces the bulk of the knife
So we can have a thin two spring knife

And
When rounded, the contours of the layers show a interesting 'grain'

I would be quite happy with a similar example of the Canal Street 'Panama White'

No run-off please, it makes the first winners feel like they were duped by an old back yard kids trick... :) I like they layered Micarta too, of all the acrylic examples.
