Well, it's been a busy week here in the first 2013 knife poll! While the sodbuster kept up with the congresses on that first evening, the congresses have since pulled away to have more votes than the next several patterns combined. Dave, Frank, Gary and I have discussed it, and in the interest of moving things along so that we can all actually have these knives in our pockets, we will be posting several polls at once - one will be to choose "half" or jack pattern and size range, one for cover type, and one for steel type. Bear in mind that the size, steel, and cover polls will not set the details, but rather the general direction, since we won't know exactly what can be offered with these options until we send out for bids. For example, something like "purple horsecut jigged micarta" won't be an option because we don't know if anyone can provide it. However, "micarta" can get us in the right direction as far as bidding it out to manufacturers goes. Same thing with the size and steel.

Please be sure to vote in all polls, if you have a preference. We will sticky them so they're easy to find.

We would like to thank everyone who has chipped in with votes and ideas so far. I think it will be pretty neat to have a knife with a little bit of all of us in it!

This poll will stay open until March 3.

I'm sticking with 1095. For aesthetics and to hopefully keep the price-point lower.

We've had several carbon steel knives.
Premium stainless I do not think we have done.

I don't believe so, but wasn't the 2007 and 2009 in D2?

no real preference on the steel -- I like the idea of stainless, but I also like the idea of keeping costs down.

I'd sure like to see some 440C! Great steel and helps keep that "Sunday go to meeting" look.

I have a prejudice against 440C that is not rational, but there. I would love to see a CPM or at least ATS 34/154 version, but if in carbon I would like to see O1 given the nod, as 1095 has been exhaustively done in my opinion, and I prefer O1, plus there are fewer O1 slipjoints out there.

The choice of 440C would not preclude me buying one, it is just near the bottom of my choices.

I voted for 1095, but as long as it's a decent carbon, I'm happy. I don't mind D2 either.

To be honest, any of the selections would be fine with me. As was mentioned, a 440c would perhaps be a better choice afterall as this does look to be shaping up more as a dress knife.

One more point, might want to consider a poll for bolster choice, i.e. squared, round, bare-end, etc... Just a thought.

440C or D2 would make for a pretty slick departure from the norm. I'd be in for stainless
