440C would really be nice... but I´d take what the most want here.... so "Premium Steel" on my side.

Just a reminder for everyone expressing interest in specific steels - our choice of manufacturer will, no doubt, determine what our specific options are. The bid winner may not work with your specific favored steel. So, for example, the knife spec might call for carbon blades, but not specifically 1095 or O1, for example, if the maker we pick doesn't use it.

Thanks and keep voting! :)

High time for stainless :) 440C, ATS34, even D2 (which is not strictly a stainless steel) will be fine for me. Not that 1095 or O1 would be bad...but my preference goes for stainless anyway.

Either carbon or stainless would be fine, but I would prefer a good stainless like ats34 for ease of care

I personally like how a knife looks with a patina on it so I'm for carbon. A2, S7, O1 any of those are good imo. I'm just excited to get my hands on one. Wish I could of gotten in on the previous years.

Haven't voted yet but carbon or premium stainless steel would work for me. So would more common stainless for that matter. I guess I'll wait to see how this one plays out.

It doesn't matter to me either. I would love to see a 154CM congress. Hell, ATS34 or a S90V would be epic!

my "budget" is really tight, how much higher would a premium stainless make the price compaired to the carbon? as this IS shaping up to be a really nice dress knife which would look better with non patina'd blades. but ofcourse if the stainless but ofcourse would be niceto keep the cost down aswell...

i think i may actually skip this poll if its ok. i dont have a real one side or another for this topic :P

I picked Carbon because I like to see the knife also age with color, and the different colors that come around while it forms. But if carbon looses i won't be too mad.

Stainless, as I can see keeping this one shiny for more 'dressy' occasions, so 440c, or a semi stainless like D2 for me. I know we'd like to keep the price reasonable, and I don't know the economies of steel choice though it seems 'premium' steels like ATS-34 do go for more.

I've never seen a carbon steel box cutter...

Well of course not::) - box cutters are made of premium pot-metal. But a Congress Jack should have a fine, premium, carbon-steel blade.

1095! Would look awesome with Ivory micarta, Nice dark patina with Ivory color handles
would be smokin....imho! Light handles and dark blades look really good!
