2013 BladeForums Traditional Forum Knife Pre-Order thread

Patience gentlemen, in 8 years I haven't been disappointed with the forum knives, sure some I like more than others but I wouldn't trade any of 'em.

Ten weeks from start to out the door, as I remember, from either this thread or the precursors to this pre-order thread. Even so, it looks like this is dead in the water. Lots of fence sitters and others that wanna wait and see. Not a really enthusiastic group here this year. I won't be gettin in on the 2014 @ this rate. (No sarcasm employed, and it's definitely not Spark's fault, just saying) ;)

With all due respect, if we had a good response as to the status of the orders instead of silence and SWAGs it may have moved along a bit quicker. If we need/needed 5/10/25 more to get it started there would have been A way to push ordering. Lacking that, the perspective is that no one involved in the project can be bothered to respond to those of us who have put money up front.

Is a status report every couple weeks really too much to expect?

I was under the impression that we were at the number needed. Maybe not, that's why no update?

If I remember correctly, Spark has been moving shop/house or something, hence lack of response.

I'm sure more than 125 have been ordered.

If not, someone ought to give us a countdown this far in now. Patience is fine up to a point, and I am/have been, just thinking that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease" applies here! :)

I'm curious, this is my first forum knife, I missed out last year and wasn't a member in 2011 so I'm interested to know... Is it always like this?

Well, the only one who can accurately do that is Spark. Once the design committee submits the final specs to him, there's really not a lot more we can do on our end, except nag him for updates. So, the status is that, after several weeks of sending messages requesting updates, we have nothing to report. We would like to hear from him, as well, as it would make this process easier for us all.

Gary and I are going to try to work the issue.

Here's the thing. As of now and with the pace of preorders, I'm either going to have to greatly reduce the number of knives or cancel this. I wish I didn't have to do so, but the preorders just haven't been there. Between increases in server costs, costs of my business moving and everything else, I may have to start issuing refunds, because I can't float a huge project like this with a ton of fence sitters.

Understood, my suggestion (well worth what was paid for it) would be cut back the order to equal the number of preorders and give all the fence sitters a week to put in the last minute orders and be done with it. Thanks for all your efforts Kevin! Steven
