The latest update from Bill at GEC...

Blaine and Dave,

I hope you are following the Blade Forums Knife on the GEC website.

They are going through well and will be shipping soon.

I think the finished knife looks much more attractive than I had original envisioned it. I believe you and the other forum members will be very happy with most aspects of the finished product.

I am, and everybody here at GEC is very grateful to all the Blade Forums fans for selecting us once again to produce your annual knife. Your support for this company is keeping fellow Americans working and producing a fine traditional American product. Your love for these old classics is Keeping America Sharp.

There are some first for me and GEC in regard to this years knife;

This is the first Congress Jack made at GEC.

The first rat-tail bolster made at GEC and if I remember correctly I think it may be the first production run of rat-tails I’ve ever done.

It has the first bar shield used at GEC.

I hope you enjoy them.

Bill

Yes!

Although I don't like to think what will happen to my budget if they offer this with other scales.

I dont know how prohibitive it is to do the Rattail bolsters but I think they could re-release a whole lot of models just using that as the only change.

Many thanks to Bill at GEC and the employees there for once again producing an OUTSTANDING knife.

Wow that thing is beautiful. I predict it being very hard to pry it out of my pocket once it arrives.

Very nice! Can't wait to see one of these up close.

Thanks to all who've helped make this knife possible. For a knife created by committee its turned out beautiful. Much better than I imagined.

Well, I must admit, when the voting was going on I didn't think I was going to care that much for this knife. But I wanted to support BF and order one anyway. So very glad I did! It looks great, and I can't wait til it's in hand. If they release other runs with different covers, I don't see how they can look as sharp as what we have coming. A big heartfelt thanks to all involved, and those who voted for the pattern.

Did I mention the main blade looks absolutely perfectly pinchable? :)

What an amazing forum knife, just stunning! I completely agree with Eisman here... I'm gonna be broke, especially if we see a version in genuine stag, yikes!

Thanks again to everyone who played a part in making this happen, best looking forum knife in my humble opinion.

Guys, you did a beautiful job bringing this knife to reality this is the first year that I got everything in a form knife I wanted.
Thumbs up to all involved in making this year's knife happen, it's gorgeous. :)

Bill and the GEC people deserve medals!
He and his crew have outdone themselves on this one.
We are all part of history in the making!
Bill has taken some inexperienced people and patiently, and with Herculean effort, turned them into cutlers extraordinaire!
I am humbled!

As am I Charlie! And you are absolutely correct, they really have outdone themselves!
I'm not positive on this point, in fact I asked for conformation from Mr. Howard, but I think this is GEC's 1st extended spring pocketknife also.
Just to add to the 1st column! :D
Either way this is a very special and I fear will be a very sought after addition to the Bladeforums family.

Dave

But why not purple scales......

I am eagerly awaiting this bad boy in my scrubs pocket ready to attack the day's grapefruit!!

Now I want one in Tortoise Shell acrylic And bark Mammoth ivory. and black paper micarta. and picked red bone. and ... and ...

Interesting that there was so much discussion a while back about whether we'd even order it due to the lack of sufficient preorders. I hope Spark decided to take a shot and buy a few extras for sale to those who missed out on the preorder. These look like great knives, and I'm glad I made the leap of faith and plunked down for one.

It will be interesting to see if GEC makes some more in this pattern for general production, maybe with some different handle materials, or whether ours will be the only one like it. I'm not normally into buying multiples of expensive (to me) knives but this pattern may be one that I want a second one of in perhaps the Tidioute trim line for a carry knife and let this beauty do display duty.

looking good - now that there are mostly finished pics, the waiting is going get get REALLY hard. ;)
