Yep, the wait is killing me!
Though it is going under the tree, so technically I can't carry it until the end of the month anyway :D

Maybe this applies to what we have on the knives, found it on a google search...

"Industrial Phenolic Laminates are made by applying heat and pressure to layers of paper, canvas, linen or glass cloth impregnated with synthetic themosetting resins. When heat and pressure are applied to the layers, a chemical reaction (polymerization) transforms the separate layers into a single laminated material with a "set" shape that cannot be softened again - therefore, these materials are called "thermosets". A variety of resin types and cloth materials can be used to manufacture thermoset laminates with a range of mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties."

Originally, all Micarta was based on phenolic resin and exactly met that definition. Today, "Micarta" is a trade name and the company that owns that name uses it for laminates based on other resin systems in addition to phenolic.

"G10" is similar, except that the resin is epoxy and the fabric is woven from glass fibers.

The best thing you can do is forget about it, you'll drive yourself crazy waitin'. I know all the pics members are postin' don't make it any easier. :)

Everybody from outside the US gets to wait until you guys get yours, so enjoying the anticipation is in order!

Your such a tease, fortunately I've been through this 7 times already, I'm used to it. I forget which year it was but we didn't get the knives IIRC until the end of January beginning of February one year. That was a tough wait, a lot of people who bought knives were getting a little nasty and really impatient.

I can wait, I've got all the other years to keep me happy till it arrives. :)

Mine rolled in today. From the great pictures and comments folks have posted I knew it would be a special one, but my expectations were blown away by the quality from the label to the knife itself. After checking this one out, I think (other than the Case/Bose annual collaborations) that this might just be the finest modern factory knife I have handled.

Thank all of you for the hard work especially all the people at GEC who had a hand in this and Kevin who has gone through a lot this year going through the ordering, tracking and shipping of these puppies. I have a few GEC knives and this one is the finest. Pulls are perfect to me for this sweet pattern; fit and finish is extraordinary and the extended spring was done quite well. Y'all done real good! I am also very happy that we were able to continue this tradition.

All US preorders have shipped. If you don't have it yet, expect it in the next few days. I'm now shipping the internationals - they will ship as payments are received for the postage.

GEC had enough parts for some extras. They will be offered as soon as everyone reports they've received their knives.

For those interested, there's also a few (emphasis on few) of last years model available still. Those will also be posted.

Just received mine. Much thanks again Kevin and GEC. They are beautiful...
Maybe I can pick up one of last years, that would be awesome..

Nice shot above, very sleek.

Will internationals be sent a request for the extra postage, as I don't know how much to add?

I would love to pick up one of the 2012 versions (and possibly another 2013 once those who couldn't get in at all got one). I just got the one for my dad today and it's a beauty, it's the first knife I've had from GEC and honestly I'm impressed even though I had high expectations given all the positive reviews. Thanks to all who made this possible, forum collectibles are the coolest thing to have IMO.

Yes. You'll be sent an email of how much to send

My elderly cat needs medications crushed into his food twice a day.
Tonight in a flash of inspiration I realized that the new BF knife's long blade and extended spring make it a perfect pillbuster (aka doctor's knife).
