2013 fish pic thread

thx for the recommendations, suzuki. alot of that stuff is actually on my list of things to pick up. i've been watching flukemaster on youtube and soaking up all his infinite knowledge on bass fishing techniques and tackle suggestions! i actually use a 6'6" pflueger president spinning reel/rod medium power/fast action. it worked well for these guys which i pulled out of grass beds. i actually caught these guys on 6# mono! i haven't used a baitcasting reel/rod ever so it's also on the list of things to try but i know there's quite a learning curve.

I was the same. Grew up on the Farmington river then moved to the shoreline. There's some trout here but more bass. I trout fish now for a little fun but my tackle is more geared towards bass. I had a bunch of spinning reels and one baitcaster, now it's opposite. Try a spro/koppers frog for top water and senko or the copies of the senko for worms. They kill. Spinner baits and buzz baits work well too. All this but the frogs can be found at Walmart.

You'll get there, just be patient. Bass triggers can be food driven or attack driven. Poppers are meant to irritate them, not immitate a food source. Different twitches can trigger. Usually on the fall a bait is hit, like the senkos. Suspending baits also work well. I catch bass through winter on jigs with craw trailers. Here are a two i caught today, and a few videos. The big one was 24", 5 lb, the small one was 8', about .5 lbs lol. Both on the same worm. The smaller one has asked to have his identity hidden, hence the worm over his face. The last 3 are videos. Sorry for the large pictures!

This fishing season has been slow for me. The weather has been wacky.

Yesterday I made my first catch of an Idaho rainbow trout. Not a big fish and the only one caught that day, but that is why it is called "fishing" and not "catching". And my four and twelve year old granddaughters were there fishing as well. And playing with the bait! Oh, and the fish is swimming around in the Snake River today.

Dang, those are some hog blue gill...I'd love to find a place to catch some like that for my kid

They were caught in the Ely Minnesota area. Hard to find big Gills, and when they are found, it seems guys have to brag, and then they are fished out. I keep my Bluegill spots pretty quiet.;)

Nice looking Shad. I am an east coast boy but got out to the dam this year for the first time my son and I caught a ton of them! People looked at us strange when we put them back!!!! We are running Big cats now back in Carolina!

I know there is nothing to reference size in this picture I landed it with out a net took a length and girth measurement and got the fish back in the water as fast as I could as not to kill it it was 44" long and around 33" girth

Sterile grass carp, not the same as the one you see jumping in the videos . Also called a white amur. stocked around here to keep weeds down. Most places around here ,even state lakes require you release them alive if caught . I know there is nothing in the picture to judge size but that fish is around 40 lbs caught on wheatie balls
