2014 BladeForums Knife Gallery

Art, see post No.392 Mine arrived next door to you in Finland on 24th October (got there 21st but Customs held it to ransom etc).

Hope yours turns up soon! You're nearer the US being much more westerly than here. It could be your Customs though...you know how it can be. I'm sure you'll be pleased mine was excellent and I'm really pleased with it.

I think Andi's wife has hidden his knife somehow......

Thanks, Will

I didn't realize I had one on the way(!), which made "waiting" easier.

As with others here, I consider stag a bit of a gamble sight-unseen, especially due to the variations in handle thickness (I prefer 'em sleek).

I can't believe what a beautiful knife this is, as a whole and in its particulars-- non-gnarly character, even coloration, and slim slabs.

I mean, dang, how fine.

Beautifully done, everyone! Thanks again to Charlie for overseeing the design/process and facilitating its production, John Lloyd for the stag, Barry for his administrative help and shipping skillz, and the good people at GEC for their willingness to give a "bladeforums" knife another go and executing the project to extraordinary result.

I'll drink to that P, nice knife

"P", you have my taste in stag, I like thinner light grooves like Winterbottom bone, some like the popcorn stag or the thick slabs but I like the more even pairs.

I gotta echo my sentiments again, seems like we had a lot more happy people this round out . It's hard to please most people on a project like this but Charlie, John, Barry and everyone knock this one outta the park, it was a home run again.

All joking aside, these forum knives have gotten more complicated every year, the more cooks to stir the soup and all but every year or members step up to the challenge.

So with that in mind I want to thank everyone one involved from the beginning because if it didn't start in '06 we might not be here today. Every year members step up to accept the challenge and you all deserve a round of thanks for first year and every subsequent year's knife.

Thank you for all your efforts and thank you in advance to the team who steps up in '15 for the next knife what ever it is. :)

Has this thread died already (found it on page 2)?

Its kind of like having my own time machine.

Sarah you did good with that one:)
This forum knife has it all and it can be summed up in one word-subtlety.
smooth and yet gnarly,
plain and yet colourful.
uniform and yet individually distinctive.
like snowflakes driven by the four winds
bringing us all together
across the oceans and mountain ranges

and some just down the road across the state line
or similar municipal boundaries.

Hey -
I'm a poet....
But I had not realised....:p

Has anyone in Europe (Germany, Andi?) recieved theirs yet? I`m waiting patiently I hope it`ll soon turn up.

Nope, there is nothing the radar, yet. It is sometimes so tricky. Some packages arrive within one or two weeks, others need six to eight weeks
In international shipping I use to play the patience game and just calculate in weeks to make it easier until the package arrives.

I hope to get it soon, though.

This could be a reason as well ;) :p

But I doubt it... she would have almost called out the tax I have to pay for it - then I would know :D :)
Honestly, I think customs is the biggest problem here and knowing what to do with the package. Then the one who is working on your file is getting ill or is in vacation and suddenly two weeks are over and nothing happened.

I actually just think in weeks and not in days as it makes me not as crazy then the other way.

Think I'll apply for a job in Customs: lolling about fingering knives all day long and sometimes sending out paperwork...:D:D

I suppose the reality is different.

You still have it to look forward to Andi...it's actually a good feeling, but the knife's better!:thumbup:

Regards, Will

Great film! :D

Here, it's not the Customs that is the problem so much as the private company who administer the charges (and add their own of course) on behalf of customs, and unfortunately they only send out the paperwork sometimes  :grumpy:

The wierdest thing that happened with a knife I was sent from the US, was that it went to Australia! Then, despite the fact that it was clearly addressed to the UK, Australian Customs hung onto it for a few weeks, and opened it, before sending it back on its way!!

The wonders of de-regulated privateerism....nice little monopoly earner:D:grumpy:

However it's delivered (long& charge ridden) the Forum Knife is well worth the wait as it's a very fine piece.

Well, I am still carrying and using my Forum knife every day. I used to make safe queens out of mine, but, having let a couple go to deserving folks who needed them more than I, my view has changed. Like the great Poet Meako has implied, I get a good connection with the fine spirits on this old Forum, by dragging that knife with me wherever I go!

I hope they all get to their destinations soon! There are a few Canadians waiting for theirs, patiently which I appreciate greatly, but I look forward to the moment when the Forum knives are all where they belong!!

2 more came home this morning, and I'll post up some photo's later.

I've only had a quick look before coming to work, but they're both beauties, massive thanks and gratitude to Barry, Charlie, John, Liamstrain, GEC and all forum members who played a part in bringing these together.

:)

I just got these in text from my sheath maker.
