2014 BladeForums Knife Gallery

Sean, looks like you are studying up on saw sharpening. I have enjoyed your choices for backgrounds. The patina on your BF blends nicely with the covers.

I'm not studying saw sharpening, but that page looked like a good background. I have been using the book to hone my lathe skills though! Thanks for the compliments!

Oh turning....that's another black hole! What do you turn? I do a fair amount of turning myself.

This is all totally off topic, but I'm a R&D Engineer (my degree is in Mechanical Engineering), so I do a moderate amount of machine shop work building prototypes at work. Fun stuff, but I'm not generally making things for myself. I would if I had the shop at home.

It is a beauty!! Nice work mr. secret bestower of said gift!

Paul - that is a true gem that Mr. Secret Bestower laid on you - yours might be my favorite of the whole litter.

Somebody picked you a really good un !!!:)

Great stag to my eye and a very nice picture of the wonder (well - wonder who gave you) knife too. I confess it was not me - I am thinking much farther north than me! ;):D

P.S. - I could be wrong because I happen to know a very generous fellow pretty far south of me. ;):D

Had to wait until I could take some photo's in daylight, to try to do justice to these incredible knives. They're fantastic and I feel very lucky to have received two such beauties.

The first (but second I opened):

This one is a gift that'll be making it's way back over to the US. It has great snap and is probably a 6-7 pull, and the blade is only minutely off centre when closed.

The second one, but the first that I opened, and I knew it was the one for me as soon as I saw it. I love the knobbly, gnarlyness and colour of the stag!

Pull is 5-6, again with good snap. It's really comfortable in hand because of the single blade and thickness of the stag. I haven't been able to let it out of my sight since opening it!

Both knives are very well fitted and finished with no gaps or wobble, and the only imperfection I can find is a slight change of angle at the top of the shield on the left. It doesn't detract from the knife in any way, and I really like that it adds to the character.

Thanks again to all who were involved with these.

Love the tube art too :)

mine arrived this morning, a nice surprise to go with my morning coffee. The finish is really immaculate and wonderful stag, GEC just keep getting better. I'll put a photo up in a bit.

Mine came in the mail last week! Here they are with my 'Erics Jack,' the 'almost' forum knife (which I voted for, despite how difficult the choice was!) I'm very happy with them and both are very comfortable in the hand, with the one on the left being a tad more so. The hollowed mark side conforms to the hand when it is held in a pull cut position, and it might end up being my user of the two. (that is, if I don't have to trade it for a washington jack) which are very difficult to obtain nowadays, same as all of the #77 frames.

Sorry for the bad pictures! I seem to only take photos late in the day, when there is very little light left.

Mine arrived today as well. What a wonderful knife. I had the chance to fondle it a bit. Just feels great / awesome to me. I almost love it.

It will be a hard time until christmas to keep that beauty in the drawer for six weeks to come. :grumpy:

Well - it will be great to carry that beauty around during my two weeks off from work on chrismas :)

Need to get a pic soon!

I'm glad to see that you finally got yours, Andi!
Here are some pics of mine. I think it's a beauty :)

Thanks for the kind words, Peter!

Yours is really a great looking knife. Like that stag on the shieldside. :)

I got mine too. I`m not as overwhelmed by it as I was by lasts year, but it`s a nice knife and worthy of my collection.
