2014 Forum Knife

a wave hello for stainless if possible
If not then no problem

With Charlie at the helm I will take what he arranges

I'm interested to see the designs from the two contenders, will there be multiple offers from both? I know Charlie was eager to try and get them to put forward more than one each. :)

Every year I've spoken for stainless for a change. GEC does it very tidy too! But seems I'm always a lone voice crossing a wilderness of rust (patina...) :D as the carbon tribe holds sway...;)
Lol!

It should be like Lord of the Flies and anarchy rules the day!

Stag Soddy, possibly with bullseye pivot? Can it get more awesome? I don't think it can. Hopefully this is the way Charlie is going.

I'm all for O1, 1095, or 440C. I love all three steels, just please no D2.

The carbon tribe fend off an attack by the stainless beast.

Lol!!

Whoa. Hang on a sec.Raquel was in the stainless tribe I think. Mind you the carbon tribe did have the equally lush Martine Beswick.
Gaaah decisions decisions. I'll get one of each! Oh knives? don't really mind either way .Has there been a D2 forum knife before?

Yes, the Queen made Barlow in 2009 I think.

The stainless tribe is acting in self-defence...:D:thumbup:

2007 was the Canal Street Cannitler which I think was in D2 too (I don't have the forum knife but my regular run one is D2).

Ah yes, a soddy....is it true when they say brilliant minds think alike?

I was just reading the 'what traditional knife are you tottin' today' thread and oldmanrunning had his 09 esquire and mentioned about how great the frame would be as a jack and I thought to myself.....

You are likely correct there Trand, although CS does do a 4something stainless too.

We need Damascus for a change, that should balance the budget:D:D

I think CS currently uses 440C, 14-4 (154CM) and D2. I think in the past they used 420 at least on the stockman models (and maybe the ring openers?) but have since switched to 440C.

Whatever, Waynorth, will get a value for us that will be hard to beat. Looking forward to a set of choices from a "seasoned veteran" knife connoisseur!

I really don't think I'd care to see a sodbuster with stag. To fancy for a down home knife. Put a bolster on it and it would be sweet..... just not a sodbuster anymore.

Well, I'm thinking that if not a Soddy, how about a fuller sized sway back jack with a wharnie or a sheep's foot blade?

Great family shot Jack, I still need to round all mine up for a group pic.

Just so you all know which knives they were here's the breakdown to the best of my recollection starting on the left:

2006 Canal Street Cutlery Ring Turner Pen, A2 steel, 2 blades, pen blade and finger nail file, burnt stag scales

2007 Canal Street Cutlery Canittler, D2 steel, 3 blades, spear, sheepsfoot, pen, IIRC mammoth scales

2008 Northwoods medium Stockman, 1095 steel, 3 blades, clip, sheepsfoot, spey, burnt stag scales also IIRC

2009 Queen/Schatt Morgan Barlow, D2 steel blades, 2 blades, clip, wharncliff, donated stag scales

2010 Queen Moose, (?) steel blades, 2 blades spear, clip, ebony scales, (first year of BFC 10 dot tang stamp)

2011 GEC EO Swell End Jack with candle tip bolster, 1095 steel blades, 2 blades, spear, cap lifter/screwdriver, jigged bone scales

2012 GEC Wharncliff Trapper, 1095 steel blades, 2 blades wharncliff, clip, jigged bone scales

2013 GEC Congress Jack, 1095 steel blades, 2 blades sheepsfoot, pen, white micarta scales

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer as to what each of the past knives were comprised of, (my apologies if I messed up any of the specs and when I get a chance I'll try to include the dimensions of each year's knife).

Thanks for the correction Eric. :) I knew I didn't get 'em all right. :)

Just a little correction;

Ring Turn blades were A2, Canittler blades were D2
