2014 Forum Knife

I'd be in for two (maybe three) from either company as long as a wharncliffe blade isn't chosen. I bowed out of the 2012 form knife because of the wharncliffe choice, and I'd have to do the same this year. I just don't buy knives I know I'd never carry or use. A stag trapper with clip/spey, or a CSC with either of those as a single blade, or either of the GECs as shown and I'll be there. I'll be happy for the guys who get their choice if it's decided to go with the wharncliffe, but I'll have to pass. If I want a straight blade, I'll go with a sheepsfoot every time, or a spey has plenty of straight edge to suit my needs.

Charlie, you really knocked it out of the ballpark on this one! Honestly, I'd be happy with all 4 knives, a CSC & GEC in single- and double-blade configurations! :)

And I just signed up for a gold membership. I may not post much, but I'm here every day at least once. More now that I'm checking on this thread regularly to see how it's progressing.

Ditto--just signed up for gold. Thanks Spark for the great forum and go-ahead on the 2014 Forum knife.

Funny enough, I upgraded to gold earlier today, before I even saw this. Figured it was time. I have received FAR MORE than $30 value put of this place.

Michael

I have been lurking here for years and just recently registered. Thank you all for the reminder!
I just man-ed up and paid for a membership. Such a small price for all of the benefit I have
received from this forum!

Bravo Guys!! I sure do appreciate it and I'm sure Spark will too!
And Michael we're counting yours in with this too. ;)

Dave

Gary and I don't work for Spark either, but like everyone else we appreciate those who step forward and help keep the site open.

If I might ask a favor, would those of you who bought memberships and have not changed their user group please do so? It helps.

To do that click on this link:

Lol, I could have used that link about an hour ago! Took me a while to figure it out on my own. Guess I am just a little slow....:D

Charlie the prices are great and if we are to vote now I say the GEC in either single or 2 bladed!! I will take 2 if you let me!!!

Great work all round Charlie, and those are excellent prices

The GEC entry with the single blade looks great and being a single should keep the price-point lower to allow more to participate. This is the one that would get my vote.

Oh and on another note; great work Charlie....as usual.

Length 3.69" just under 3 3/4".
1095 steel. Glaze finish as opposed to high polish.

BF tang stamp, altered for the year. Etch to be approved.

Oh, la.

I do believe I spy a pen-behind-main. In which TLARbb and Pertinux rejoiced.

Is this the same frame on which the American Jack is built, with different bolster treatment?

I would answer yes to your question Sarah. The length and pattern number all point in that direction

I am all for CSC 440C with a warncliffe. One or two blade doesn't matter to me as long as I get a warnie blade!

Everyone can order as many as they would like! No limits! But once we place the order, there will be no more. I hope we get to 300 this year, as it would be a great milestone!

The forum proposal knife is slightly shorter, with a more squared off end to the main bolster! Hence the different pattern number "77".

This will just be one of the four options, right? No chance of getting a split run from one company of 150 single blade/150 double blade?

Ahhh, there you are Sarah. I was going to send a PM to you later asking what you were up too. Obviously one of the things, was looking up a current GEC jack for comparison. Thanks and good to see you posting.

Thanks, Ed!

I am trying to quickly catch up, while preparing for more busy-ness ahead. More soon.

I don't have an American Jack with which to compare (or from which to Imagine), but my #79 workhorse encourages me that a jackknife on a slightly smaller frame would be, let's see, within range of perfection. ;)

I have never handled a CS knife, but I am heartily encouraged that they are giving this a go again. I look forward to the polls, and final decisions, and of course, The Knife.

There is a point where it becomes less expensive to produce knives. 150 knives would cost considerably more per knife, than a run of 300!
There are dozens of steps to building one of these things, and sometimes it takes longer to do a set up for one step, than it does to run 300 knives through that step!!
A set up that costs $5 per knife for 150 knives, can cost less than half of that per knife for 300 of them.
There is enormous economy in numbers.
Now if we could just order 1000 knives!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
