Well how about an update on this year's knife? :)

I talked with Wally this morning, and things are coming together. Unfortunately, as so often happens on custom runs, there is another minor snag he is dealing with; the tang stamp die was delivered and there was a problem with it, so it is being done over correctly.

Most of the scale slabs are cut and paired, and he told me the Bocote was really nice.

I begged him for some WIP photos, and he promised he would get me some. Right now, still not much to photograph as the knives are in bits and pieces, but I hope to have something to post here soon.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there are only 42 knives remaining of the 300, so, there you go, now you know.:confused::cool::rolleyes:;):D

That's very good to hear! *rubs hands*

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update GunstockJack. I was going to ask today, but changed my mind thinking you would update things when new information becomes available. It is something that I think about weekly versus daily.

Tang stamp die..... yeah, that would have to be redone.

I'm driving up to Ashokan Seminar tomorrow morning, could go by way of Ellenville to stop in? Couldn't stay long but...

Good luck at Ashokan, Gary! I'm sure your seminar will be amazing.

It would be cool to get an exclusive scoop on CSC.

Thanks Robb, Ashokan went very well, great weather too !!

I didn't think about making a drive by until it was too late, otherwise I'd have emailed the Canal Street folks but time was against me, so it didn't happen :)

Here's the latest poop: the tang stamp die was re-done (to fit the tang; the first was too big) and the blade blanks stamped, and they are out for heat treat now; grinding them will start in a week or two. Most all of the parts are close to being completed for assembly, but nothing put together yet.

Eric has promised some WIP photos here soon! Thanks Eric!!! We are gettin' excited!!!! :)

So, they would be pretty far along by the end of the first or second week of October barring problems.

Do we have any ideas of the width of the main blade as yet? I'm hoping with the FFG to have a slicer par excellance.
