Sheesh, You don't even have em yet and you're selling and trading them? Anyway all that selling and trading talk doesn't belong here, so let's nip it in the bud (all the budding knives being posted made me think of that). Thanks.

It's a large slip joint for me to carry in a pocket.

It's somewhat similar to the knife that I proposed years ago (same blade configuration) but it's not a sowbelly and it's a shadow pattern. I'm looking forward to this one. A handful of BF members put in a lot of work getting this done for us and it's coming along nicely. I've already started camping out by my mailbox. ;)

It's right around my preferred size (3.5" to 4"). Also, keep in mind that it's a single spring so it will be thinner than a stockman. And since it's a shadow pattern, it will be even lighter. Everyone's tastes are different but I think it may be a lot more manageable size than you're expecting.

It's too bad this is limited to 350, especially since these sold out ahead of time and the knives are still in production. It sounds like another 25 or 50 would sell, but I'm guessing that increasing the total number at this point would be difficult for one reason or another (limited cover material or something?). I was going to buy a second one today but missed out.

Regardless, I'm really excited about this knife! It's my first CSC and first forum knife. I'm pretty new to traditional folders. I'm planning to have my wedding date engraved on one blade and carry it on the big day next year. I'll gift it to my dad right after the ceremony. This isn't the sort of thing he'd buy for himself (i.e., a somewhat spendy knife from a modern/current US maker), but he loves traditional folders. He has a few older Case, US-made Schrade, Camillus, etc. knives and has carried a traditional folder almost every day of his life, as far as I know (since the 1950's anyway). I'm expecting Canal Street's quality to blow all his other knives out of the water.

Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work in making this knife a reality!

A lot of the Trad guys have wallets that incorporate a slipjoint carry section for backpocket carry. I use a William-Henry type clipcase for my larger slipjoints, up to and including the GEC two blade we did a few years back, it makes for very convenient carry.

It's the biggest run of BFC Trad knives we have ever done. Do you have any idea of the logistics involved in shipping this many knives out? Be glad you got the one coming.

Engraving hardened blade steel is not terribly easy, I suggest you find a company to laser it for you, it will save much hassle in the long run.

Ha! I was actually going to ask about the best way to go about it, but you saved me the trouble. Thanks!

If you don't have a company to work with, I do...send me an e-mail, I'll give you the contact info, or you can call Kershaw and ask who they recommend.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

People are carrying far larger modern folders in their pockets without trouble. Mine's going in my case belt pouch however. Pocket carry = scratched pocket watch for me.

My pocket watches that go into pants without watch pockets go into a special fitted leather pouch that Paul Long created for me that keeps the watch upright and protected...was hating how the chain can get knotted up.

What could be better (for both sides) than the fact that the whole batch sold out - this means that the correct decisions were made (hopefully also economically viable) and this gives a great starting point for future forum knives. So - my congratulations and thanks to all who made this limited run possible.

This is my first forum knife and im definitely going to be involved in the following years. Its just neat being able to be part of the community here and actually have something to show for being involved in said community.
Thanks everybody! :D:thumbup:

Guys, production on these knives started many months ago, and all the pieces are completed for assembling the 300+ knives. There is no going back and sayin' "Hey, can you add a few more knives?" or "How about a different handle?". It just isn't practical and that is the way it is. So, they are sold out, but when all the dust settles a month or so after everyone gets their knives, I expect there may be a few left over ('cause I might'a lost count by a knife or two...).

We should see more WIP photos soon, so I hope that will tide everyone over for a bit.

OK, that said, I can tell you that I expect the first shipment of 100 pieces about the end of the month, and I'll ship asap in the order received, so some of you will be gettin' yours first! A week or so later I'll get another 100, etc., etc. until the order is filled, so it will take some time for all of you to get your knives. Please be patient and don't flood me with emails/pms wondering if I shipped your knife; I will ship them all. Thank you! :D

Barry, Thanks for the heads up on the preliminary shipping schedule and the additional info. Sounds great! Did you ship my knife yet?! :D

I hear ya. That's why I said that I understand that making more at this point probably isn't practical for a number of reasons. I didn't mean to sound like I was whining about not getting a second knife and asking if more could be made. It was more of a "my bad for waiting too long" sort of comment. Just wanted to clarify, since I'm new here and don't want to leave the wrong impression.

Wow, I just went back and looked and I ordered my knives (2) on they day they became available, 7/21. How time flies! Participating in and watching how this knife came together has been a great experience that is sure to make this one of the more special knives in my collection. Thanks again to Charlie, Barry, Eric, and all those who have made this possible.
