2015 BLADEFORUMS Club Knife - SHIPPED!!

I did not mean to imply that the package was not shipped properly or anything like that. I am in Germany and USPS usually handles the package over to DHL or some lower-end carrier (GLS, DPD, ...). While the tracking is often rather spotty, this time in remained all fine (including arrival to DE, main customs office in Frankfurt, and so on). But since I do not know which company was supposed to deliver the package, I will rather wait few more days than try to call them all to find a package with USPS shipping number (the German ones are of course different, just to make things easier). I am only saying it has not happened yet that tracking would imply the package was delivered, but nothing would arrive.

OK - a letter from local customs telling me to come to pick the knife clarifies this one. I shall be picking it up in the next few days. I am soooo curios :)

The eagle has landed :) I am VERY happy with the knife. Thanks to Barry and CSC! Photos will come soon.

ALL of the forum knives have shipped; they went out via United States Postal Service First Class or First Class International. The last shipped on Dec. 10th. If you weren't notified, I may not have had your email correct. The mail is notoriously slow this time of year and I'm sorry that the order wasn't received earlier and so avoid the Xmas rush, but the delivery schedule was not under my control.

If the USPS tracking system says your package was delivered, then it probably was. If you didn't get it, then you need to check with your local US Post Office. We've had at least one package that was destroyed and the contents missing, but it may be tracked down yet. Mail theft can be another issue, but let's hope we don't see any of that.

Please, be patient! Packages can take over a week at this time of year.

Thank you Barry for all of your hard work on this project. I have received my single knife and like it.

Except for us Canadians who have had our knives at the border for a week, without moving, teasing us with the tantalizing thought of what our covers are like, how they will feel in hand, how long until we are updated..... Dang waiting for customs clearance!!

All we have are pictures like those you took of your fantastic version!!

Mine didn't get to customs in Richmond BC until yesterday, took a detour through Los Angeles. Looks like I have at least another week of waiting. I am enjoying the posted pictures, though, and am quite a patient individual, they will be here when they get here. However, it was nice to see the updated tracking info yesterday to confirm that they had actually made it to Canada.

Well, I was just now catching up on the latest in this thread ... and the pups told me there was someone on the porch. THE box is now in my hand. Unopened. So I will finish up this update quickly (do you think?)

FYI - customs, timing, cost
The package departed Philadelphia evening of the 8th, processed through sort facility and to customs late evening on the 11th, customs clearance processing complete on the morning of the 15th ... then there was no further notice until Sean, postman, brought it to my door.

Downside, customs added another $41.37 CDN collected at the door. ($31.42 HST plus $9.95 handling)

Last time I paid customs on a knife was on one from Idaho, over $60 CDN ... while on a second knife from Illinois, arriving in the same truck, no customs was added. I wouldn't mind comparing notes on customs charges from other Canadian recipients of this shipment.

Wishing to all speedy receipt of their long anticipated knives

I've never had a charge added by customs for a "made in U.S.A." item, should be exempt under NAFTA no?

Picked mine up from the post office last night. Customs cost was $29.40 CAD.

Extremely pleased overall.

Experiencing the same undergrind as mentioned by others where part of the edge is dented due to touching the spring and I see that one of the swedges was incompletely ground so it looks a little incomplete when compared to the other side.

Great craftsmanship on the scales, and finishing otherwise though. I just need to do some more sharpening and to find a way to finish off that swedge on the one side.

Customs, on the invoice here, is relating the charge to HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) and handling fees. It is the randomness that I would like to sort out. Why on some deliveries, and not others. Minimum / maximum value doesn't seem to be consistent. I must do more digging ... and appreciate the information.

Customs is always hit and miss for when they charge, but I average getting charged on about 1:10 shipments, so I don't complain, unless things like NAFTA free or overcharging GST (I've been charged 13% once!). Mine isn't here, nor is a notice, it'll show up soon. I'm hoping without charges!

It has been quite awhile since I got hit with a customs charge. Have not really kept track, but I would say on average that it would likely be more like 1:20 that I get a customs charge? Good tracking news today, customs has released my package to Canada Post after only 1 day and their expected delivery date is Dec 24. Good to hear some Canadians have got their's, but both paid duty.

I have never been charged customs on anything. But I don't buy very much....I received an email with shipping notice but no tracking number. ..just hoping for a pleasant surprise and maybe before christmas even!

For years I never paid a cent of Border fees, I'm pretty sure we can blame harper ;-)) Now I'm getting charged on most packages.
It's quite annoying with a buck worth 70cents and now crossing fees. :(

Best regards

Robin
