Though I like a knife with patina, I went with stainless this time for a change.
I like the contrast with the dark colored wood on that CSC.

Man thus is tough because I want CSC to win & their stainless is fantastic but at the same time I've never gotten to try out CSC's 1095. I wanted a stainless knife last year and didn't get it though so I'm voting stainless this year. Seems we really have a shot at getting it this year too.

I'm really undecided. I love a patina.....but that's not a deal breaker.

Gonna leave this round of voting up to those with strong opinions or better knowledge on steels.

Everybody loves a horserace!! ;)
It's very close; I'm making some popcorn!!:D

I voted my preference. But, I would go for either. I thank CSC & GEC , Charlie and anyone else who has been involved with this process. This isn't an easy task for the manufacturers or organizers. there really is much to be considered when undertaking a task like this. Kudos to all.

I strongly prefer stainless, though not so strongly that it will actually have any bearing on whether or not I buy the knife ;)

That said, 440C is really one of my favorite steels for a regular user knife. I like the edge, and I really find it easy to sharpen. I like my fancy supersteel knives, but some of them are a stone beast to sharpen (for me at least). And letting someone else sharpen my knives, or using a system (rather than freehand) would feel like admitting defeat. So I am a fan of 440C (though I also like 154cm a lot).

I'm in for the stainless. This looks like it is going to be a great pattern regardless who gets it and I have been looking for a nice traditional in stainless for canoeing/kayaking. Sounds like a win, win.

I like both but I am overloaded with 1095 and want to add some stainless.

Mike

All of my knives are stainless. I'm excited at the prospect of my first forum knife possibly being stainless!

Stainless sounds good for the simple reason -a change is as good as a holiday:thumbup:
