2015 Forum Knife. A Work in Progress!

Who is hoping for a wilder wood pattern and who wants a more uniform pattern? I'm hoping for something on the wilder side.

more wild is better. one of the nicer wood handles I had was bocote, the patterning was especially cool:

Hi folks, got another pic for ya, shields are pinned and I'm in the process of installing the rosettes now. Should be starting assembly in earnest next week, hopefully the first hundred will go out by week's end. I'll take a lot more pics as things progress through the assembly process, up to now there hasn't been much to show, especially since I've been doing the prepping on these guys while we work through a backlog of orders that had to go out before the Christmas rush. So far everything looks good, did a trial assembly last week and found that the pin I planned on using for the shields wasn't going to work, but in rummaging through the old stock I found one that's exactly what I had in mind, so that worked out nicely. I'll keep you posted!

The grain on the bocote slabs looks terrific!

I don't know the size of normal production runs but I recently saw that AG Russell had a run of 100 knives and our order is 3x that size. I think our special order is a winner for so many reasons... the combination of blades... the slim single spring design... the old time shield. I don't know the norms for special orders but I for one think the knife would make a nice addition to CSC's regular production lineup using different handle materials like some of the synthetics that have been used on other CSC regular production runs. It would be nice to keep the first run of knives with bocote as unique to our order.

I'm looking forward to this knife. I think it will be a frequent companion for a long time.

So are we holding out on finished pics until people get them in hand and start posting?

I got mine...just joking. Wait! Postman knocked twice! Nope. Wait! Wife says she has something for me...nope, just dinner.
Humm? Got a Washington Punch yesterday. Does that count?:D

You cant play with my emotions like this! This post is a rollercoaster ride! :D

OK folks, had a bit of a delay last week with getting that first hundred done, should be out the door by the middle of this week. There are fifty completed so far with the other fifty at different points of completion on the floor. Quite the juggling act for me! Got a few pics for you though. Sorry for the poor quality, took them with my phone camera which isn't all that great indoors sans flash.

The above two pics are of a board in the process of being assembled and cutlered. Have one finished knife tucked in there too. Got a separate shot of the pile side, mark side shot was WAY too blurry.

Last two shots are of a knife before and after hafting. Sanding of the covers is the last step before buffing. Thanks for your patience everyone, it won't be long now!
