2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

My first post in this thread:

Since the title of this sub-forum is "Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades" perhaps a fixed blade knife would be a good choice for the 2015 Forum Knife as suggested by others.

Definitely worth consideration, Ed.

This would definitely be something I'd be interested in. A bird & trout knife would be nice, and a fixed blade would make it a bit easier to keep under $100.

Not completely opposed to the idea of a fixed blade, but that might leave some people out of the deal. Some places can't carry fixed blades or larger fixed blades.

Peanut is the right answer. I think it's time for one. :D

I certainly think that's worth considering, Ed.

What would the traditional fixed blade forum knife be? I like Drop Points myself. What handle? We need details!!!!!!!

A good peanut or a similar sized slippy should be useful everywhere except airports and courtrooms. 😊

Ok, how about this? Take the esquire, make it a clip main, pen secondary jack knife. Give it a long bolster and a bare end. You now have a peanut sized barlow.

this with a spear main, coping secondary? (or awl/reamer)

Ill say it again - a 3.5 inch coke bottle with clip or spear and pen. And if you wanna get crazy put a tweezer and toothpick in the butt end. That'd be something.

Thanks putting it so concisely Ed :), it would be nice and I see a lot more interest in a fixed blade this time around. It's something we haven't done yet and this year being the 10th anniversary of the Traditonal Forum's knife a fixed blade would make perfect sense.

Thanks for the additional totals philllll, now the only one missing is the 2011 EO Jack.

That, and a fixed blade would allow more room for the Blade Forums engraving on it.
You could now run it along the length of the blade of the 10th which will be a milestone knife. ;)

It would sure be cool if Canal Street could make up some Sharp Fingers in 1095 just like the old Schrades but with some nice bone or wood on the handles. Would even be made in what used to be the Schrade factory which adds to the nostalgia I think. :)

Does the "new Schrade" hold any kind of design rights on those? A nice sub-3" fixed blade is intriguing...

No opposition to a fixed blade here  There are restrictions on carrying them here in the UK, but not illegal.

That is a very good question actually. :) I have a German made Boker version that looks exactly like the Shrade but who knows they might have worked out something with Schrade at the time.

Would probably prefer a slip joint as it's illegal to carry a fixed blade aroynd NYC but a sub 4 inch fixie like an old sportsman or a sharp finger in 1095 would make a nice shop knife.

Maybe something like the Loveless Sport? I haven't tried them, but Hess makes Marbles like knives.... and from what I understand the blades come from GEC.
